Hi 👋 Beautiful and amazing women of Steemit. It’s my pleasure to be in your midst showcasing my first Art contest.

Women are gurus when it comes to creativity. Kudos to all beautiful women in steemit.

DIY simply means do it yourself and for today’s contest, I’ve decided to make a beautiful flower in a vase using recyclable materials and some new ones by myself. I had lavender in mind but there are little variations.😉😉

Materials needed;

Recyclables

1. Some green plastic bottles
2. An old milk tin
3. 1/4 of old white A4 paper
4. Some pieces of old noodles carton
5. Old piece of brown envelope

New materials

1. Scissors
2. Green, red and black permanent Markers
3. Cotton wool
4. Monami poster colors
5. Water
6. Sand
7. Super glue and gum.

Procedures
I started by cutting off the the base

of the green bottles, then cutting through in straight lines with my scissors.

I then used one sharp end of the scissors to straighten the already cut lines,

trimmed the tips to make pointed flower tips and kept aside.

I went for green with a touch of white and purple because green stands for productivity and growth, white for purity and purple for royalty and these a my favorite colors.

I proceeded to cut out some plastic lines, made some little cuts at both sides, rolled and attached the cotton wools.

to the sides and painted some with purple colors.

My poster colors didn’t come with purple, so I had to mix blue and red

to get purple. I actually 🤔didn’t get the particular shade of purple that I wanted.

I went on to make my butterflies by drawing them on the A4 paper,

cutting them out

and painting them with black, red, green markers and a yellow crayon.

I used top gum to wrap

the milk tin with the brown paper,

poured some sand in to the old can to make a base.

I also shredded some carton pieces,

placed the flower in the vase and added the shredded carton pieces to help hold the flower in place inside the vase.

The final steps
I added the flowers alternating the white and purple colors and pasted my beautiful butterflies.

There’s a saying that “give anything to a woman and she will transform it totally”. This flower can be used as side table decoration as it’s gracing mine. I am glad I am making an impact and I am proud to be a woman.
