The last variant of COVID-19 has raised a lot of questions;
• Is the Omicron variant really that bad and is it deadly?
• Will the next variant be the same as a common flu?
• Is it really necessary to be vaccinated?
My answer, I don’t know. Will we ever know? All that I am sure of is that I had enough of COVID and what goes with it and I know that there are millions around the world that feels like me. It might even be you…

I’m tired of seeing it first thing in the morning when I switch the television on and I am tired of the debating and even fighting on social media. People are worn down dealing with COVID, the all familiar COVID fatigue.
In South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the state of disaster, which have been renewed every month over the last two years, will be lifted once the government has put the necessary measurements and new regulations in place to manage and regulate the COVID response. What measurements? What regulations? Is what we currently have not enough? Surely by now we have learned how to manage the virus.
South Africa is on an adjusted alert level 1 lockdown which includes the following;
• No curfew, hours of movement is no longer restricted
• The wearing of a face mask is still mandatory
• Gatherings and sport events are restricted to no more than 1,000 people indoors and 2,000 outdoors. No more than 50% capacity if the venue is small.
• Schools re-opened but the children must still wear masks, wash hands and sanitize
• Attendance to funerals and cremation is now limited to 100 people and if the venue is small no more than 50% of the venue may be used
• No night vigils, after-funeral gatherings are allowed and a funeral may not be longer than two hours
• Restaurants, bars, taverns etc. is restricted to not more than 50% of the capacity of the venue and social distancing is a must. Nightclubs remain close
• Businesses must still provide hand sanitisers for employee and public use before entering
• A R350 (23$) grant payable to those who have no jobs. This is just enough to buy 25 breads for a whole family for a period of one month
In the mean time our Minister of Health made it clear last week that lock-down restrictions will continue until the end of the year.
All I want is for people is to wipe those tears, to return to their normal lives and for the economic sector to operate as before the epidemic. And if vaccination is what it takes to live a normal life, so be it.
So many people became financially restricted over the last couple of years. Not only will it be extremely difficult to recover but it will also take time… a long time. Let's start now!
I call on the leaders of the “richer” countries to assist the countries in need.
I call on the governments of countries to assist their people properly!
I call on the people of the world to be vaccinated and to practice precaution so that we can enjoy life the way we use to!
Kindly share your view and what’s happening in your country.
