My Support For A Solar Installation Project in Nigeria - #solarsteem25pc

It is clear that so many countries not only in Africa but also the rest of the world fails miserably in providing a basic service like electricity.

According The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2022 (Davos 2022) which were held earlier this week, the energy market and landscape has been changed by one main factor and that is the Russia – Ukraine war.

“We are in the middle of the first global energy crisis. In the Seventies, it was the oil crisis and now we have an oil crisis, a natural gas crisis, a coal crisis – all prices are skyrocketing and energy security is a priority for many governments, if not all,” this according to Mr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.

I hear you sir but the people of the world is getting frustrated and angry and I cannot help to disagree with you.

The energy crisis we are currently facing has been coming for a long while and in so many countries it is due to the local governments failing to attend to simple things like maintaining infrastructure.

In South Africa we experienced our first “load shedding” experience in 2007. Fifteen year later and it there has not been any improvement in fact it just got worse. In 2021 we had 48 days of load shedding and according to Bloomberg the country is heading for a record year.

Fifteen years!

Surely in all those years the government could have found suitable solutions?

For me, women are the biggest victims.

They are the ones we must perform many task which requires electricity or any form of energy. They have to cook, they have to get the family ready for school, they have to wash and iron and they are the ones who plays the biggest part in the education of children and so often they are the ones who must provide for an extra income.

Worse of all, an electric crisis is leaving us as women vulnerable and open to armed robberies, rape and even domestic violence.

Multiple studies has indicated that improved access to basic electricity can only improve the lives of women which can led to;

• Better health and health knowledge
• Improved education
• Better safety
• A healthier economy

There are many solutions, ways and manners which can prevent a total energy crisis like providing for solar heating.

For me there is however one factor which is over looked and that is to let women play a more important role in the electricity chain. I do believe they are the ones who are the most desperate for a solution due to their roles not only in their households but also in their local communities and their countries economy.

Only 13.9% of senior management positions within the energy field is filled by women. This is according to data published by OECD/IEA published in May 2021.

Women can be the key drivers for not only finding solutions for our energy crisis but for implementing them also.

If South Africa and so many other countries in the world had females Energy Ministers we might have seen a different picture long ago.

Maybe it is time for Mr. Birol who’s been sitting in the chair since 2015 to step aside and allow for a female to chair.

“In my community, consumed electricity is metered according to the communal meter. . . If even one household fails to pay the electricity bill, the whole community is disconnected. I assist my community in collecting electricity bills in the community to ensure timely and accurate payment of the bill that guarantees uninterrupted electricity supply to the village.” —Marika Taniashvili, Georgia

Let's stand together as women and support #solarsteem25pc in the hope that it can also reach our countries.

And i am so glad that you are also giving people directions on how to do this...., lets do it !!👍😊

👏🏻👏🏻

Hopefully they can make this project a reality. I am impressed because I did not know that in your country they cut off electricity to the entire community if a neighbor does not pay his debt. I find this measure unfair against the entire community.

In Venezuela we also suffer from power outages for many hours or days. The situation in which many families live who have to cook with firewood is terrible.

Thank you very much for sharing friend. Happy day.🙏🌻☀

Hello!
It’s nice to hear from you. I hope you are well.
I’ve been in bed with bronchitis and flu for the last three days.🙈

The message is from a woman in Georgia who goes the extra mile to make sure her community’s power stays on.
In South Africa we sit with a problem that the local municipality is paid but they then don’t pay it over with the result that we see where the whole town is turned off. That makes me so cross.

Best wishes for a wonderful week 🌼

Thank you for supporting smilenigeria project, we appreciate your kind gestures and with this act, more of such programs could be carried out in different locations.

Hopefully, smilesouthafrica soon.

I love this message! It looks professional!
Well done!

I agree with you that woman face this electricity challenge which is one of the basic needs in this society.
Do you guys also face serious electricity challenge in South Africa like we do in Nigeria?
Thanks for the support ma

It is getting very bad in our country. They had it on the news this morning that we can expect 247 days of load shedding until April next year,

Woah! This is serious and it's not as if we don't have what it takes to have constant electricity but I wonder why African leaders do not have us at heart

Wow interesting thank you for this educative information, I have seen this with you definitely some places in Nigeria do not have a stable electricity we suffer a lot in this.

Women can be the key drivers for not only finding solutions for our energy crisis but for implementing them also.

With regards to this we are on our feet to implement some solutions I've already supported this project I will like to see it come to existence.

Thank you for your support

Thank you for supporting!
