Hello dear, strong and empowered women of this community. I hope you are all doing great wherever you are and whatever it is you are doing.

Today, with excitement and happiness, I would like to take part in this community's latest contest.

Steem Women Club Contest #19 Local Dress Promotion | We Want to See Colors! |

I find it a great way for us to introduce our culture as well as showcase our region or localities' traditional dresses.

I am from the Visayas, the Central Region in our country, the Philippines. Our country's national dress or costume for women is called " Baro at Saya ", which simply means Blouse and Skirt in English. " Baro at Saya " is composed of the blouse " Baro ", skirt " Saya " and the rectangular cloth is worn on the right shoulder called " Alampay ".

In our Region, " Kimona " is used to represent the Visayan style of clothing. It is a typical type of " Baro " which is made up of see-through cloth from pineapple fiber worn with a sleeveless shirt inside. " Baro " can be paired with a knee-length or floor-length " Saya " or skirt. The one on the right shoulder is the one called " Alampay ", a rectangular piece of cloth cut from the fabric used to make the skirt.

This is my niece wearing her " Baro at Saya " during their " Buwan ng Wika " or Filipino Language Month at school celebrated every August of the year. I took this photo when I accompanied her during this special event in their school.

On her head is a handmade headband that I personally made for her. It is made up of rubber thinly cut and formed into little roses. I also bought a pair of pearl earrings for her.

The dress she is wearing is worth about 7 Steem. That is already for the blouse, skirt and the little cloth worn on the shoulder. For her headband, I bought the materials for about 1 Steem and the pearl for 1 Steem.

I invite my friends, @jenesa, @kyrie1234 and @jespesos to share their entry to this contest.

This is it for today. See you on my next posts. Have a great day ahead!
