Good morning beautiful friends.I am pretty sure you are in high spirits.We shall continue to post and engage in the Steemit Engagement Challenge that has held sway since last week.It is getting better by the day.Permit me at this point to participate in this contest as hosted in SteemWomen Club community.
Holiday is a period of rest from work, school or business.Everyone enjoys holidays especially government and private workers because that's the only time they can have ample rest.I am sure you love holidays too😊.
My holiday plans involves how I intend to enjoy the holiday.I have basically two places where I intend to enjoy this year's december holiday.One is in Ushongo village and the other would be at my home town.I will squeeze out the 12 day period to accommodate the two locations.
Ushongo village|First Session
Like I opined earlier.I will stay in two locations for the holiday.The first location would be Ushongo village.
Arriving Ushongo village
Ushongo is a local government and also a town in Benue state,Nigeria.This village is the most peaceful place that I have ever seen or heard of in my life.I am saying this from experience.
I planned to take off on 20th of December and stay until 25th of December.This is roughly five(5) days.My plan was to travel by bus from here in Aba city to Ushongo village by bus is a journey of 12 hours.This means I would leave Aba by 6:00 am and would get to my location by 6:00 pm.
Ofcourse I will make arrangement with a friend who is an indigen there to get an accommodation for me.So once I get there towards the evening time,I will move straight to the apartment.
The next day i will like to keep myself fit by observing morning workout and jogging.
And when I come back I will relax with fruits.This village has lots of oranges and mangoes and you are as free as air to pluck and lick as much as you want.Then towards evening I will join the guys to play five-aside football at the field.Once again,this people love sports especially football so much.
- Day 2
On the second day I will visit the local museum here.It is a collection of old items of great importance.The museum attendants will also teach me about the Tiv culture.The culture and language in Ushongo village is Tiv. Although I learnt a bit of the Tiv language and culture during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) days.
- Day 3
I will make effort to stroll around the yam market here in Ushongo on the third day.This yam market is the biggest yam market in the whole of Nigeria.Traders from other parts of Nigeria come here to buy yam in large quantity and the yams are very cheap.Wholesalers buy here and then travel to sell in the cities or in their states.Infact,when it comes to farming especially crop farmimg,Ushongo people are the best.The slogan of Benue state is The food basket of the Nation.This shows that the state produce plenty of food.
- Day 4
On the fourth day.I will visit the Ushongo hill.This hill is monumental and has great cultural and religious signifinace.The Ushongo hill has caves underneath where you can enjoy cool breeze and natural air.
@samuel20 at Ushongo hill
The caves have sections and a lovely structural setup.Personally,I love climbing the hill top.This is the main thing that made me choose Ushongo as a travel location for this holiday.

- Day 5
The fifth day is supposed to be 25th December and so I would be traveling back to Aba on that particular day.As usual,I will leave Ushongo as early as 6:00 am and will get to Aba city by 6:00pm.I will sleep in my house in Aba and will then be set for the second session of the holiday which is traveling to my hometown.
My Hometown||Second Session
In the early hours of 26th December,I will board a private car for the journey to my hometown(Imo state,Nigeria).This is because I will carry a lot of goodies and so I won't like the rigmarole of going to the park to enter a commercial shuttle.The private car will take me from my house straight to my family house in the village.It is approximately a 2 hour journey.
I would be given a warm welcome once I get to my hometown because my parents are already there.A well prepared native food would be the first thing that I would get my hands on.
From the next day being 27th December to 31st December would complete the whole holiday period to 12 days.Within the 27th to 31st,I will stay in our house.Help with a few chores,watch movies,stroll through the track paths,visit the field every evening to see live football matches,entertain and feed my eyes with cultural events at the village square.
Here is hometown
One thing is certain,I will enjoy fresh and natural delicacies from my mother all through the period.
Staying with my family would be a thing of joy because I visit them almost towards the end of each year.My sister hasn't been to the village for over five years.She stays in Lagos and so she would be home for the holiday,that would be a great opportunity to meet here once again.Imagine having not seen her in person for five years although we interact regularly on WhatsApp and video call.
Furthermore,I will stay around my uncle's house too because they always feel lonely in their family mansion and would always want me to be around to keep the company.He in turn entertains me with stories and history of our community.I am sure the holiday in my hometown would be nothing short of beauty,fun and enjoyment.
Conclusion
Holiday is a special period in everyone's life.It is a time to rest,eat,drink and have fun.I am sure that the 12 days that I have mapped out for this year's holiday would work as planned.Friends,I am sure you have your own holiday plans too.Make good effort to share it.
I am inviting @estyroberts @ngoenyi @anasuleidy @udyliciouz @nishadi89 @naddiyaatif @alegnita @crissanch @nadeesew @patience90 @nneoma08 @mvchacin @patjewell to participate and share their proposed holiday plans.
