" Our Family Is A Circle of Strength and Love "

I am @saneunji from Philippines and we Filipinos has this amazing trait/culture of " close family ties " that whatever occasion there is, may it be big or small, in happy moments or in moments of sadness, the families gathered together to celebrate and comfort each other in times of grief. This Filipino culture strengthen our bond to our families and every occasions we celebrate together brings us closer to each other wherever we are, no matter how far we are from each other.

Greetings to all the beautiful ladies here in #steemwomenclub @steemwomensclub and to @nadiaturrina and @svm038. Today is a wonderful and a heart-warming day for me because I am blessed to get to see my distant relatives which I haven't seen since pandemic has surfaced two years ago. Of course we've been through a lot since the pandemic and we hardly see our families or relatives from afar because of the strict guidelines or protocols that was imposed by the government. Hence, I fully understood those guidelines because that was for our own safety and of other people. In this time of Pandemic our safety should always comes first.

So going back to today's event, my family and I went to my father's hometown to meet some of our relatives. We all gathered to celebrate my grandfather's birthday who passed away last year. Even though he's not with us anymore we still celebrated his birthday in memory of him. A message for him in heaven that we all love him and we still remember him.

Since my grandfather's house is uphill we walked for 30 minutes to get there. It's a bit tiring and hot but I enjoyed the long walk because the view was quite nice. Instead of complaining because my grandfather's house was far, we just took pictures of the view.

Finally, we arrived at the place and I was glad to see the smiling faces of my relatives welcoming us to their place. They are the relatives that I adored so much because they are kind, loving and very welcoming.

And here comes the most awaited part of the day, Eating Time. Of course there's always foods in every occasion.

Here are the foods that was prepared for the occasion.

Lechon

A very well-known dish not just in the Philippines but in other country as well. An all-time favorite dish of every Filipino served during special occasions. Lechon has a long cook processing, you have to roast the pig for 4-5 hours depending of the size of the pig you want to cook. But it’s worth the wait. When it’s cooked and done properly the Lechon should be crispy skin outside, juicy, flavorful and tender in the inside.

Pancit

Pancit is a Filipino noodle stir-fry popular for everyday meals as well as for special occasions. The dish is often served on birthdays because the long strands of noodles signifies a " long life " in Asian culture.

Puso ( Hanging Rice )

IMG20211002105421.jpg

Pusô also known as hanging rice is a rice cooking method that is popular in Visayas, particularly in Cebu. It is steamed rice wrapped inside a pouch made of coconut fronds or “lukay” that is woven in the shape of a diamond. This is very aromatic that you can't help yourself of tasting it.

And so our day ends with a full heart and a full stomach!!!

🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩

And that's how I spent my special day together with my distant relatives. It's very heart-warming to have this kind of gathering once in a while to get in touch with our relatives that we haven't seen for years and rekindle our memories with them.

Thank you all for today!!! Until next time!!!

Always,
@saneunji

Ohhh....I really like puso sis rather than the usual rice cooked in rice cooker or in a gas stove.
