SEC S10W2: How do you plan to do your home shopping?

Shopping for the home isn't really something I usually do unless it is personal shopping. It isn't that I do not like shopping, but I have a lot of elder people who do the house shopping. So today, I will be taking you on a shopping experience in this post. Not literarily shopping but the post is about shopping, so let's go!!

Who is responsible for doing the shopping in your home?

Like I said before, I am not used to shopping for the house and this is because my mum and my elder sister do that courtesy. So when it comes to going shopping for the house, sometimes I just go as a handbag and am not the main person buying the stuff. It takes a lot of pleading and tricking for my mum to allow me to go to the market with her. She would state that I am the baby of the house and should wait for my turn. I usually ask when my turn will be since I am about to leave the house. I learned most of the things about buying home stuff when I was in the higher institution but that doesn't mean I do not know what they buy home or how to shop for the house.

How often do you shop at home?

Shopping is done on a weekly basis, usually on Saturdays because that is the day most of us are free. For minor pickups when there is a shortage in the house, this can be done at any time of the week but basically, shopping for the home is usually done on Saturday. We do not pick Sundays because we are Christians, we go to church, and after church, we just want to unwind.

What are the products that CANNOT BE MISSING in your home? Mention any of them (personal hygiene, cleaning, food, or sweets)

When we go shopping for the house, we cannot miss certain things such as toiletries, cleaning agents, food, and food ingredients. On a weekly basis, we always ensure to get toothpaste, serviette, toilet rolls, Seasoning, salt, sweets, and lotions. Basically, shopping for the house is all about restocking finished household items. Toothpaste is needed on a daily basis, morning and night when we need to care for our teeth, so it usually finishes in one week or two, but my mum will never forget to get at least one toothpaste when she goes to the market, the same applies to me and my sister. Serviette is used in the kitchen and in the dining table. My dad cannot eat without having a serviette paper around him to clean his hands after eating and his cutleries before eating. As usual, Toilet rolls are required in the toilet so it is a necessity in our house. Foodstuffs and Seasonings are vital for our survival at home. I love food and there must be food at home at all times. Other Items we would always get include

• Make-up
• VEET Hair removal
• Detergents
• Bathing Soap
• Bag of Rice
• Dispenser Water Refill
• Lotion
• Sanitary Pad
• Cereal
• Chocolates
• Groundnut oil and every other thing for the family.

Do you shop in a specific place or do you walk through several places before shopping?

I do not like to shop in one place, and I learned that from my mum. My mum thought me to always go to different stores to check the prices of goods, but when we find a place where the same quality is sold cheaper, then we can purchase from the store for some time. This doesn't mean that the store becomes a permanent spot to purchase items, we would once in a while check out the prices of the same goods in another store to compare the price difference. We do not buy stuff from one place, we walk through different places for a very enjoyable shopping experience.

How much do you spend on average each time you go shopping? (indicate the price in your currency and the equivalent in STEEM)

On average, my mum spends about Seventy Thousand Naira (#70,000) for household shopping weekly and this sums up to #280,000 naira in a month. At the exchange rate of #420 naira to 1 dollar, that is $166 dollars per week. At the current rate of 0.156 dollars per STEEM, it will cost 1060 STEEM per week, and 4240 STEEM per month. To give you a quick breakdown of what we spend money on, I will write the price of certain home items. We purchase these things in bulk and since it is a large family, it usually last for a week. For instance;
