Visiting Forgotten Recreation Places with my friends

This time I @dederanggayoni want to share a story with you about my journey when I and my friends visited a recreation area on the outskirts of my city. This place is called "Jeulekat Reservoir" which is located at https://w3w.co/gaul.khusus.melekuk

Actually, my friends and I have wanted to visit this recreation area for a long time. However, in the midst of our busy teaching schedule, we finally took the time to visit this place. We left after returning from the school where we teach, and it happened that we came home early. On the way, we stopped to buy our lunch first so that we could enjoy it later at the recreation area.

Finally, it only took about half an hour for us to arrive at our destination. The atmosphere was very quiet, the gate to the location was only slightly open. I parked my car in front of the gate, near the place to get the entrance ticket. However, there was no one at the entrance ticket collection point either. Because the entrance gate was slightly open, we finally agreed to go in.

After entering the “Jeulekat Reservoir” area, my friends and I finally found a man who was in charge of waiting and taking care of the place. He greeted us and after introducing ourselves we chatted with him. After that we sat under a tree and hut while enjoying the atmosphere of “Jeulekat Reservoir” which was quite cool, fresh and had beautiful green scenery.

But it is very unfortunate that it is not well maintained. According to the guard of this tourist spot, this place is planned to be closed because there are no more visitors coming to this tourist spot. I think it is very unfortunate if that is done. Actually, the “Jeulekat Reservoir” recreation area is very beautiful.

The location is spacious, overgrown with ornamental plants and fruit plants such as grapefruit, mango, guava, kedondong and others. Then you can also see gardens covered with green Japanese grass. The view of the reservoir is very beautiful like a lake, but now it has been overgrown with water plants such as lotus and water hyacinth.

Until the reservoir is no longer visible because it has been covered by lotus and water hyacinth. The usual duck boat game is also no longer visible. Well, that's a shame, I think. According to the guard, the game has been moved to another place. Because no one visits this place anymore.

After eating, drinking what we brought from home and bought it on the way, we then rested under a cool hut. Then my friends and I went around the area to enjoy the beautiful scenery while taking pictures. This is the third time I have visited this place. Previously, this place was crowded with visitors.

However, after the Covid 19 outbreak that hit the world and even reached my city, many tourist and recreational places were closed, including "Jeulekat Reservoir". After the Covid 19 period subsided, this recreation area reopened but not as crowded as before. Until now, this place has even been reported to be closed.

Some of the rides that once existed and still exist in the recreation area "Jeulekat Reservoir" include the flying fox that is already broken, while the duck boat is no longer visible. Then at this location there is also a place of worship, huts for resting, a cafe that is no longer operating and there is also a traditional Acehnese house

Actually, this recreation area is very good for outbound events for families, students, students and office workers or others. The natural scenery is still very beautiful with many aesthetic photo spots. However, because it is currently poorly maintained because there are no visitors coming to this place anymore. We were busy taking pictures at this location.

The guard of this place is very kind and friendly, he accompanied us around and took some of our photos. then we were invited to look around the traditional Acehnese house. My friends and I who had never entered the house, now we just know what it looks like from the inside. Inside this traditional Acehnese house there are many historical photos of Aceh. And there is one room that is equipped with unique and complete bedroom furniture.

That is the story of my journey in the forgotten recreation area "Jeulekat Reservoir" in my city of Lhokseumawe. For me, even though this place is no longer maintained, I like the scenery in this place. I hope this place is not closed but revived with better cooperation between the management, local residents or maybe the local government. That's all, see you later.
