The Diary Game || 22 September 2024 || I spent and lost a lot but no worries

I am no good at diary posts, but on September 22, 2024, I went through a day that forced me to register the incident in the form of a diary post. It was a normal day—not too cloudy but sunny after a fortnight of heavy rain.

After finishing our morning routine we decided to go to the eye hospital where my wife had an appointment with our eye surgeon, the famous ophthalmologist, about 45 km away from our house.

From now on you will never see this camera in my hands 😕

We had to cancel two previous dates due to rainy weather since we have no car but a two-wheeler, and I didn't want to drive it as I was scared of driving a two wheeler on wet roads after the accident on the 8th of August this year in similar weather conditions while going to Uttarakhand.

So far, so good. We confirmed the appointment by calling the hospital, and they asked us to report at 10.30. We started at about 9.25, and after driving about 10 km, I stopped and took a couple of photos of the ongoing construction of rapid rail at a rapid rate and kept my camera back in the side pocket of my lower.

At about 10.20, we reached the hospital, and as I stopped my scooter in the parking lot, I thought I should take a couple of photos to send them to my daughter, as my wife had already started walking towards the front office.

But there was no camera in my pocket. I tried all the pockets of my lower, searched my shoulder bag, and even under the seat of the scooter, but no, the camera was gone. My wife came back and asked what I was doing there. I told her I couldn't find my camera.

She checked my pockets and found out that the pocket of my lower was undone, so there was a big hole, and my camera had fallen out of my pocket somewhere on the road 35 km behind where I had taken the last photos.

Oh, my beloved camera, Sony Cybershot, which was part of my outings, was lost. I bought it back in 2017 for INR 12000, or roughly 700 Steem had gone forever as there was no chance of recovery. After all, cameras have no ID mark on them, and I don't believe anyone would come find me and say, "Here is your camera, bro."

I took a picture with my phone before we entered the hospital and then again before we entered the reception area. My wife had already been suggested surgery for cataracts, but today we were here to submit our health insurance documents, select the lenses from a long list of different lenses ranging from INR 12k to 108k in Steem terms, starting from 700 to 6300 Steem per eye, all inclusive. I took a picture of the missing insurance agent. We opted for appx 6000 Steem each.

As I mentioned, we had gone through all the necessary checks, so the only thing left was the selection of lenses and advance payment as they come from a different unit, and there is one transplant at a time, and the other eye transplant depends on what kind of treatment we were opting for.

We were sent to the accounts department for formalities of payment and to submit our insurance documents. We had already made up our mind to go for INR 97000 or about 5700 Steem per eye option, and we were supposed to get part of it from the insurance company. I took a picture of my wife sitting in my seat.

We deposited the advance payment took our reports and were asked to wait for their phone call. Now they will inform us when the first lens will arrive from the specialists. I will buy another camera because a smaller camera is a good option rather than carrying my Canon DSLR everywhere. How would it look if I kept flashing this camera in a mall or hospital and became an instant laughing stock where the small camera fit well in my palms and I clicked at whatever I liked?

We paid, and then went shopping in a nearby mall and did some window shopping plus a couple of small items. You know a mall is always a good stress reliever, and my lost camera was haunting me like I had lost a near and dear one. After all, that camera was part of my blogging for the last seven years.

We completed the formalities and came back home at about 4 pm. My wife had cooked vegetables before going, but I was feeling tired after driving about 120 km in tough and busy road conditions, so I laid down on the bed.

But soon my wife asked for food, so I asked her to bring the food where I was lying on the bed. She brought the food there, and we finished it there on the bed itself. I kept my eyes closed for maybe one hour, but you know "Dev's Teaching Team" is at work, so I got up and checked everything.

I had my SC20-w3 contest post ready, and it was time to submit it. I did that checked everything and then submitted the link in the slot where we need to submit them. My job was not yet over though because now I am in the IST time zone, which is different from UTC. I completed the balance posts.

So the result of the day: I will have to spend INR 200,000 for the operation and get around 60,000 from the insurance company. Which means I will spend INR 140,000 or 8235 Steem from our own account. Can I add the cost of a new pocket camera which is a must accessory for my blogging? That will cost me another 700 Steem or INR 12000.

That was all my dear Steemians for the fateful day of 22nd September 2024.

I invite @inspiracion @yancar

Friend, I am very sorry for the loss of the camera, you had it since 2017 but sometimes it is good to renew the computer equipment since I am sure that the new one you bought will have much better quality than the old one.
I hope the intervention went well and that the insurance will refund your part soon since it is quite expensive.
I wish a speedy recovery for your wife friend.

Actually, I have two other cameras including a Canon DSLR but this one was most favorite one because it was handy and for its wonderful result at 20 MP. I had changed its battery recently and it had 30 GB memory card enough for images and videos even for a long trip. But that's life, isn't it? Thanks once again for everything.

Wow, 20mp is a very good resolution my friend. It's a shame especially for the card and even more so if you had photos inside it but oh well. all material has replacement

Those little gadgets really do become like extensions of ourselves, don't they? Losing one after 7 years of memories... that's rough. I'm crossing my fingers that someone finds it and manages to return it to you, even if the chances seem slim. Plus, I'm sending my best wishes for your wife's surgery.

Thanks but the chances are nill and we both know that because it fell on a highway and it has no address on it besides had it been the old time I could have posted an ad in "Lost and Found" in a local newspaper but then no one reads a newspaper anymore.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your camera I know it would make me search those 35 kilometres back, I wonder if you did as you drove back.

It's not clear to me what choosing the lenses is for. Isn't there just one type of lens or? If it comes to insurances it sounds as if the system works kind of same with us.

120+ euros per month (dentist not included) the first 855 euros per year I have to pay and next I receive a small refund which make me think. That huge part you have to pay yourself is it worth paying the amount of the insurance?
Since it's forbidden with us not to have health insurance I can't refuse and the only way for us to save money is by staying away from a doctor's office. Blood tests, and medication and so we should pay ourselves as well).

I hope everything works out fine and you find a nice camera to blog on.

@yancar @inspiracion

I do not pay much on insurance premiums in India because we are insured in other countries. Yes, if you check the list of lenses I have provided and the one we have selected will tell you why I paid this much. In our case, we can claim up to 80% spent on treatment but not on the policies we have right now which are basic and we have taken them in case of emergency/accidents. We get any claims only if we stay in a hospital overnight as OPD is not covered in India. Thanks for asking, have a nice time.

Hola apreciado amigo.

No worries friend I have another camera, a Canon DSLR but that is not for casual use or fits into my palms or pocket. So, yes, I will have to buy another one for casual use. Thank you!

Thanks for your recognition @shiftitamanna

I feel sorry for your lost expensive camera which is going to cost you a lot for a replacement. I wish it never happened, and for your wife I wish her a quick recovery.

Thanks, nothing to worry about. This is all part of the life. I will buy one soon to replace my old one which is a must item for my blogging although I have a bigger DSLR.
