When I had the opportunity to travel to Java, I did take advantage of the moment to be able to go to famous tourist attractions. The temple building is indeed a special attraction for tourists from various circles. This time I would like to review my travel experience to Borobudur Temple which is located in Borobudur Village, Borobudur District, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province.
Borobudur Temple is located at an altitude of 265 above sea level, and its geographical position is surrounded by several mountains. This temple is a testament to the historical development of Buddhism, which can be clearly seen from the relief carvings, the arrangement of statues and the curved Buddha figures.
Location Overview from Google Maps
My colleagues and I arrived at the entrance of the temple complex courtyard area around 16.00, we went straight to the entrance ticket counter for Rp. 50,000 (17.6 Steem), - unfortunately the ticket is only for entering the temple courtyard, not allowed to climb to the top of the temple. So because we came too late in the afternoon, we didn't get a ticket to go up to the top of the temple for Rp. 120,000 (42.4 Steem), which was already sold out. (entrance ticket purchase can also be done through Traveloka )
But even so, we really enjoyed the atmosphere when just entering the tourist complex area which looks like a large park. To get to the temple, we still had to walk for about 200 meters with the contours of the road uphill, then because the location of the temple was still at the top, we climbed one by one dozens of stairs that were enough to make our feet a little sore.
After walking for about 7 minutes, we arrived at the main location of Borobudur Temple, shrouded in a rather cloudy sky color, because of its high position, from above we could see the surrounding scenery. The atmosphere was very exotic, without wasting any more time we immediately looked for interesting spots to start taking pictures to remember this extraordinary moment.
Temple Structure
Borobudur Temple is a square building with a length and width of 123 x 123 meters with a height of about 42 meters calculated upwards. The Borobudur Temple building consists of 10 levels. The bottom six levels are square with decreasing size. Levels 7-9 are almost round, and the top level is a large stupa. Overall, Borobudur Temple is in the form of a stupa that has a multilevel structure. This cultural heritage is made of andesite stones that are firmly joined together with the “swallow tail” or “butterfly” peg technique.

Brief History of the Temple
Borobudur Temple is known as one of the relics of a Buddhist place of worship founded by a king from the Syailendra Dynasty, King Samaratungga and his daughter Pramodhawardhani, but there is no exact information when this temple was founded, but archaeologists agree to estimate the construction period of Borobudur Temple around 775 - 832.
At the beginning of its discovery, Borobudur Temple was in poor condition, then restored by rearranging the damaged stupas. Due to natural conditions, this temple was again damaged, inviting the attention of several world institutions including UNESCO to carry out the second restoration which took place between 1973-1983, then inaugurated by President Soeharto on February 23, 1983.
In 1991, Borobudur Temple was designated as a World Cultural Heritage, thus this temple became one of the most important heritages and must be preserved and become one of Indonesia's proud tourist destinations.

I was thinking of encouraging the use of Steem Atlas by holding a contest.
The idea is to review a favorite place of education, open to all levels from elementary to university.
Would you support, or would you suggest?
Thank you 🙏🏼
