Hello everyone. This is my first post. I'm still new and trying to understand and learn how the system works. I’m a travel blogger. I’ve tried blogging on blogspot before, but I couldn’t keep it going consistently. Hopefully this time I will be more consistent in sharing my travels with you. In today’s post, I want to talk about the last day of our trip to Rhodes. I plan to cover the previous days in other posts.

On our last day we checked out of the apartment, went shopping and then returned the car before heading to the city center. The city center has such beautiful sights. This town resembles what we saw in Lindos, which I will discuss in another post. Here, cars aren't allowed, the streets are like this, so you can see. This place is called the Old Town and it is included in the Unesco World Heritage List. The Old Town is surrounded by medieval walls and contains the ruins of Ancient Rhodes. Here you can find ancient buildings, temples, theaters and other historical remains. One of the disadvantages of our trip was the constant presence of strollers everywhere and another was the luggage that was everywhere.

As we walked, we came across many shops, including souvenir stores for tourists. We started walking down the street. We entered the Rhodes Castle, which was part of the city's defensive structure, like other medieval buildings. During the siege, many people lived in this castle. Of course, there’s a challenge here; the streets are narrow and didn’t really suit our needs, but it was incredibly beautiful. it’s a wonderful feeling to see these beauties. The stone pavement is stunning and the passages are quite spacious. Most importantly you walk a lot here. We were exhausted, it was really tough. I wish we could call a taxi here; it would have been very comfortable.

Really life here is very different. We’ve arrived in a tourist area with shops, magnets, souvenirs and a lot of handmade leather and wooden products in the streets. We also saw gold shops and various ice cream parlors. Overall, this is a typical tourist street, but here not everything is branded. There are many handmade products, not so many big brands. There were still a lot of tourists, but by 3:30 pm, as the ferries were leaving, the crowds started to thin out. In our country we usually don’t stop in front of such tourist shops. Here we felt different because we were in another country.

We headed towards the harbor. But I couldn’t take my eyes off the streets; it’s such a beautiful place. This is the outside of the castle, where there’s a small boat selling souvenirs. They were selling sea sponges collected from the sea.

Here cruise yachts are being cleaned and boats are going out fishing. Traveling is amazing and sometimes when faced with difficulties or other challenges, you think "I wish I could just stay at home, everything would be fine." But seeing something new, discovering something interesting, seeing where two seas meet... Where else could you see that? Personally I’ve never seen it and in moments like these, yes, I realize it was really worth it. So, you have to get up from the bed and move because traveling is about stepping out of your comfort zone. It requires a lot of preparation, buying tickets, planning the trip... All of these require stepping out of your comfort zone.

Cruise ships depart from here and it’s such a beautiful place. There are so many things to see. We spent three days here, but if we had one more day, it would have been perfect. Next time, it will probably be in 10 years because there’s still so much to see.

We have arrived at the location of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven wonders of the ancient world. There was once a statue of Helios, the sun god here. That statue stood for about 60 years before being destroyed in a massive earthquake. But this place is still considered to be where the Colossus once stood. Now, there are two deer statues here. The current state of the site isn't all that impressive. In old photos, it looked much more striking. It was magnificent. But now all we see are these deer statues.

We had about three hours left and we really liked Rhodes. it's a beautiful place. It's small but wonderful. The day before, we toured the whole island from north to south in 1 hour and 40 minutes. There’s a very nice atmosphere here. I really love the Greek vibe. The old houses, the castle, everything is very colonial and colorful. It’s definitely a very pleasant experience.

One more advantage of Rhodes is that the air here is much cooler compared to the other side, because there's a breeze. It's warm, but the wind makes it more bearable. There’s no humidity, which is very nice.

Rhodes is impressive. Especially in the evenings, we enjoyed a last beer while taking in the stunning view. The water is very clean and people can even swim in the harbor area, which was quite surprising for us because in some cities, even thinking about such a thing is hard. Despite the cruise ships in the harbor, people can swim comfortably here. Before we left, we stopped by a restaurant for lunch. We had pizza, a kids’ menu and a salad. Then, we slowly made our way to the bus.

We got on the bus, with a night journey ahead of us. The next day, the workweek would start again.
