Hello friends! How are you??
Even though our community wasn't chosen in Season 17, I still think it's important to share posts here about our travels and discoveries. Today, I want to contribute by sharing content about Castelfranco Veneto, a beautiful village nestled within ancient walls in the province of Treviso. I want to bring forward insights about the culture, history, and traditions of these places.
This city is not only famous for its splendid medieval walls, which have practically remained intact to this day, but also because it's the birthplace of the famous painter Giorgione.
I've shared some photos that I took during my walk because I believe that strolling through these ancient walls is the ideal way to immerse oneself in another era, particularly the precious medieval period.
These walls, which you can almost touch, date back to the 1200s. It was thanks to the Republic of Venice that this defensive system expanded and was further improved. In the eighteenth century, Castelfranco, breaking away from Treviso, became a very important cultural center, attracting mathematicians, physicists, and architects from all over the world.
However, these walls suffered significant damage during World War I because these areas were occupied by Austrian troops. Fortunately, over the years, this city, rich in history and beauty, managed to restore and preserve these walls.
Naturally, in these photos, I also photographed the pigeons, which currently are the true rulers of these walls as they inhabit them. This can certainly be negative because unfortunately, these birds cause quite significant damage to these walls. However, they have also become the top tourist attraction of these walled cities.
I hope the photos I've shared were interesting. I'll see you in my next post, and I thank you for reading this one.
