during my return journey from Peschici in Puglia, I decided to make a stop in Pineto, a peaceful town on the Abruzzo coast. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a pleasant surprise: an exhibition of vintage Vespas, lined up along the street like a row of timeless jewels.
Seeing these iconic scooters filled me with excitement because the Vespa is not just a symbol of Italian design and engineering, but it also represents a sense of freedom and adventure for me. I adore the Vespa so much that I chose it as my profile picture: every time I look at it, it reminds me of the thrill of setting off on new discoveries, just like riding a Vespa, with the wind brushing against my face and the road opening up before me.
As we strolled through the center of Pineto, we encountered a lively and nostalgic atmosphere. The notes of old Italian songs filled the air, and I couldn’t help but stop to listen to the covers of artists like Little Tony and Adriano Celentano, among others. People were dancing carefree, caught up in that unmistakable rhythm that defined an era.
It was a special evening, where the charm of tradition and the energy of Italian music blended perfectly, making this stop in Pineto much more than just a simple pause in our journey. It was a small dive into the culture and spirit of Italy that I love so much.
I would like to leave you with a video so that you can experience the rhythm and musical style in the notes of "Svalutation" by Adriano Celentano, a song from 1976.
This iconic track perfectly encapsulates the energy and concerns of its time, blending catchy rhythms with lyrics that critique the socio-economic issues of Italy in the 1970s. Svalutation became one of Celentano's most memorable hits, thanks to its bold message wrapped in an irresistible melody. Listening to it, you can almost feel the pulse of an era, with its unique mix of rock, pop, and Italian flair.
I hope you enjoy the music as much as I do!
TIP: The Vespa, created by Piaggio in 1946, has become an iconic symbol of Italian culture and freedom on two wheels. One of the most interesting curiosities about the Vespa is its name origin. It is said that when Enrico Piaggio first heard the sound of the new scooter's engine, he exclaimed that it sounded like the buzz of a wasp. Even the shape of the vehicle, when viewed from above, resembled that of the insect, with a narrow middle and a wider rear, much like the body of a wasp.
Additionally, the Vespa has been part of many extreme adventures. For example, there are specific models designed for sand, such as the Vespa Raid in the desert, for snow in Vespa Ice Race competitions, and even for water with the "Moscone" model from 1949. These adaptations showcase the Vespa's versatility and its enduring popularity among travel and adventure enthusiasts.
The Vespa is not just a means of transportation, but a true way of life that has inspired generations of travelers to explore the world with a sense of freedom and discovery.

The story about the Vespa is the best but I was not allowed to see the site because I don't want their cookies.
I believe we had a blue one. I assume you didn't take a photo of it so I can have a closer look.
The music is nice but in a way, it reminds me of Elvis. What was the burden of that time? Except for my childhood, I can only remember the 'car-free Sundays" in 1973 but we could drive on those empty roads where we wanted (emergency).
