Greetings friends of Steemit and Traveling Steem

Kolkata note (Kolkatar Karcha) appears every Saturday in the popular newspaper where upcoming events are reported. I saw the news about the photo exhibition to be held at Harakutir, one of Kolkata's most iconic Bonedi (aristocratic) homes. Located in the heart of North Kolkata, this majestic house has been a cornerstone of Bengali aristocracy and cultural heritage for generations. With a history that spans over a century, the Ray-Banerjee family has played a significant role in preserving the traditions and rituals of Kolkata's grand Durga Puja celebrations. The exhibition featured the building and architectural heritage of Kolkata.

Last Friday, I embarked on an exciting journey through the historic Harakutir Ray-Banerjee Bari. I was born in that locality in a Hospital called Lohia Matrisadan. I had to go by bus to Poddar Court which was about 2-3 kilometres away. I didn't find any conveyance. I walked all the way.

I took a photo of Lohia Hospital and the building just opposite that hospital. As I entered the street I saw the architectural majestic heritage buildings on both sides. JADULAL MULLICK BARI (Mulllick Bari) . Once the area was abode of Bengali Business class. Although the houses are dilapidated today but still stand tall. Once Bengali were considered as promising and prosperous businessmen of India for their acumen. This was a residential area of Sutanati prior to Kolkata.

I dive deep into the history of the Ray-Banerjee family, exploring the architectural marvels of their ancestral colonnade home.

Every year, the Durga Puja at Harakutir Ray-Banerjee Bari draws large crowds who come to witness the grandeur of age-old rituals, beautiful idol-making, and the elaborate festivities that have been carried out for generations. Harakutir Ray-Banerjee Bari is a living museum of Kolkata's cultural richness.

Before I conclude I would like to invite three fellow Steemians to participate in the contest

As a resident of west bengal, feeling happy to know that you visited Kolkata and you loved it.

I belong to Kolkata only. I went to visit a photo exhibition in that locality. It ended to be a heritage walk. I also mentioned I was born in that locality. Anyways thanks for the sweet words and engagement.
