My travel destination in 2024 - Andaman Nicobar Islands

Where is your travel destination in 2024? Tell us about it and why you put it at the top of your travel destinations.

I have toured many places in South India and North India but never visited Andaman and Nicobar islands. Last year 2019 when we planned to go there because of corona lock down we couldn't go then because of many other work I am thinking to go this year.

Andaman Nicobar Island is one of the most beautiful destinations in India to visit. The Andaman Islands, located in the Bay of Bengal, are a magical place. The Andaman Islands offer a perfect retreat from the hectic city life, providing a serene environment for a relaxing getaway with your family in harmony with nature.

What kind of travel experiences are you planning there?

Scuba diving

A popular tourist destination at Havelock Island is scuba diving, which is a speciality of the Andaman Islands. The island typically provides scuba diving expeditions for three groups of people: novice dives, less experienced divers, and more experienced explorers.

Helicopter Ride

You can also enjoy the nature by boat. But it costs a little extra. For those who are short on time, Pawan Hans' helicopter services are also available from Port Blair to Havelock Island. After reaching Havelock Island, it is best to wander around on foot and enjoy the island's beauty, beaches, huts and shops at a leisurely pace. At Radhanagar beach, you can enjoy the various forms of coral reef growth under the sea water that sparkles like crystal and emerald green.

Beach

Radha Nagar beach and nearby is another beautiful beach called Elephant Beach. Not only can you reach this beach on foot but also the experience of walking from Radha Nagar Beach to this 'Elephant Beach' beach will undoubtedly take you like floating on a cloud. You can experience such a gift of nature on this beach walk.

Apart from scuba diving, Havelock Island is also famous for trekking. Various private tour companies offer integrated trekking tour services with guides for tourists.

Visiting Cellular Jail

Another interesting place in Andaman Nicobar Islands is Cellular Jail. The Cellular Jail or Kala pani is a colonial jail used by the British, standing in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Built like the 7 spokes of a bicycle, it is the first of its kind in India with 693 cells built for solitary confinement in a 3-story prison where none of the jail mates can contact with each other.

Many Indian freedom fighters have been imprisoned in this jail. It is today a national memorial, showcasing Indian freedom fighters, and also houses exhibition galleries and a library on the freedom movement. A light and sound show has been organized in the cellular jail. It is a very useful and historic informative place to visit.

Are you planning the trip solo or will you have a travel companion?

Although these islands are in India, we have to cross the sea so I can't go to this island alone so I will definitely go with my family. Usually during any trip we go with family and that's what makes us happy. This trip we decided to go with family.

If you could take any Steemian as a travel companion, who would it be?

If we had to take a steemian with us on this trip we're about to take, we'd definitely take
@mvchacin. Because so far I have read her post on steemit and I have come to know that she is very easy going, open minded, likes to travel, likes to travel, and enjoys traveling with his family. So, I am sure that we both will have a happy family trip when her family is traveling with us.

Andaman Islands are very easy to reach. There are direct flights from all major cities of the country. One way flight ticket is Rs.4000. Flight duration varies from 2 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes. If we are going maybe four members of our family will travel and if we do so flight ticket and Rs 32,000 plus we have to keep aside Rs 5000 for local taxi and if we want to stay in a good three star hotel we will need approximately Rs 10,000 per day and if we stay for five days we will need 50 thousand rupees for accommodation.

Usually they provide breakfast in three star hotels so for five days we need to spend about Rs 50000 for lunch and dinner and if we allocate 20 rupees for other expenses then at least our family needs Rs 1,50,000 for Andaman trip.
