Visit to Pahanthudaawa, Sri Lanka : Tourist Attraction Photograph @kasun-chamikara

Recently, I have visited Pahanthudaawa falls, which is situated in Belihul Oya, Imbulpe, Rathnapura district in #srilanka. It is an amazing place to visit which has a good reputation among the local and foreign visitors. Specially, Pahanthudaawa can be considered as one of the best breathtaking visiting locations located in Belihul Oya village.

The name “Pahanthudaawa” has come from the Sinhala terms “Pahana” which means the oil lamp and “Thudaawa” which means the wick of the oil lamp. The formation of the rock around Pahanthudaawa falls resembles to an oil lamp and water passes through a narrow channel which resembles to the wick of the lamp. This unique formation has attracted eyes of the visitors for a long time.

Pahanthudaawa falls is connected to the river of Belihul Oya which starts from the Horton Plains.After passing through Pahanthudaawa falls, it reaches to Belihul Oya river and Hirikatu oya rivers nourishing Belihul Oya and Galagama vilages. The water cascades down the falls passing through these picturesque locations which enchants the passerby.

The best way to access the Pahanthudaawa falls is across the Belihul Oya village, moving along the Badulla-Colombo Road. Pahanthudaawa falls is located around 2km from the village. You will have to walk when you are reaching the falls, but most parts of the journey can be covered by vehicles. The joy of walking is passing beautiful natural locations.
