Sunset Explorations at Île des Moulins: A Father-Son Adventure

Last weekend, my son Yahya and I decided to explore a new place, the Ile des Moulins at Parc de Terrebonne. It was close to sunset and we were excited to discover the beauty of the area during this magical time of day.

As we arrived, we walked across a charming wooden bridge that led us to the entrance of the old stone buildings. The architecture had a historic charm, with a municipal library housed in one of the structures. Yahya was curious about the place and we took our time exploring the surroundings. The evening light was perfect casting a warm glow on the stones and highlighting the textures of the old buildings.

We continued our walk, and as we approached another part of the park, we were greeted by a beautifully preserved old house surrounded by lush greenery. The house, with its red windows and traditional stone construction, stood proudly, as if telling stories of the past. Yahya enjoyed exploring the small garden in front where colorful flowers were in full bloom.

One of the highlights of our visit was the discovery of a unique topiary display. Two life-sized figures, entirely made of plants, were seated on a wooden bench. Yahya sat beside them, fascinated by the detailed work that went into creating these green sculptures. It was an impressive sight and Yahya was eager to pose for a photo.

As the sun began to set, we found a peaceful spot by the water. I took a moment to capture a selfie with the serene backdrop of the calm water and the glowing sky. The colors of the sunset reflected beautifully on the surface, creating a picturesque scene that was both calming and inspiring.

Yahya and I then ventured closer to the water, where a small waterfall caught our attention. The sound of the rushing water was soothing, and Yahya seemed to enjoy standing close to it, feeling the cool breeze that carried droplets of water toward us. The view was stunning, with the bridge in the background and the gentle flow of the water creating a tranquil atmosphere.

We continued our walk along the riverbank, where Yahya and I stopped to take more pictures. The wide expanse of the river was dotted with small islands, and the distant trees added to the scenic beauty of the place. The quietness of the evening, interrupted only by the sounds of nature, made it a perfect moment to share with my son.

As we explored further, we came across a vibrant art installation in the park. The installation, made of long, brightly colored ribbons, caught Yahya’s eye. The ribbons swayed gently in the evening breeze, creating a mesmerizing effect. Yahya and his sister ran around it, playing and laughing as they interacted with the art. The installation added a lively touch to our visit, contrasting beautifully with the natural surroundings.

As the evening came to a close, we ended our visit by the pond, where a fountain added to the serene ambiance. Yahya posed for one last photo before we headed back. The park was beginning to quiet down as the last rays of sunlight faded, leaving us with a sense of peace and contentment.

Before leaving the area, we treated ourselves to some ice cream from a local vendor. Yahya, with a big smile on his face, enjoyed his chocolate-covered cone, savoring each bite. It was the perfect way to end our day at Ile des Moulins, a day filled with exploration, nature, and precious father-son moments.

The visit to Ile des Moulins was truly special. The blend of history, nature, and art provided us with an unforgettable experience. Yahya and I both agreed that we would love to return to this charming place, perhaps at a different time of day to see how it transforms under different light. For now, the memories we made during this sunset visit will stay with us, a reminder of a beautiful day spent together.
