My travel story

One of the day in my life I will hardly forget.
Travelling with my fellow colleague for industrial training.

I always heard that travelling is part of education but this time around, it occurred to me like a mare frustration.
We were told that in two weeks time i.e 24/06/2024 all the undergraduates in my level/ faculty will be traveling on research to round up/complete their industrial training.

On Sunday I was fully prepared for the journey being that the exact time all my colleagues were to assemble was 9 am on the dot. I had to wake up by 6 am and start arranging my luggage. I finished everything by 7:57 am and boarded a tricycle down the premises.

On reaching there by 8:42 am, I found out that they were only few people. I had to wait hoping by 9 am, everybody will assemble.
Few minutes later, I check on my wrist watch it was few minutes pass 9 o'clock and yet majority of my colleagues were yet to arrive. We had to wait for another hour so everyone can assemble.
By 11 am everybody arrived the takeoff point.
Everybody were squeezing their faces wandering when the bus will arrive.
Our coordinator now came and gave us orientation rules and regulations. After that, we waited for quite a long time for the bus to come.

My fellow colleague started speaking out why the bus driver should treat us this way. At some point I was tired and confused if we will still travel wondering what kind of arrangement our coordinator made.

I was really focused on seeing the place and how it looks like. At some point I got frustrated and this time around almost all my colleagues showed frustration with bitterness.
Everybody kept asking the same question if the journey will hold today.
Not quite long, two buses arrived.

My colleague started jumping in with their luggage.
And hence, the two buses was not enough for the student.
Those who managed to enter found themselves uncomfortable in the vehicle. It look like though we were prisoners or just stocking goods and forcing it inside.
I had to also find myself into the bus. Just hanging on the bus like a bus conductor.

I feel pained how the university management should treat us this way after we all paid money for the journey.
Everybody got infuriated while the journey lasted.
I had to manage myself till we all reached the destination.
However, aside from the way we were being packed like log of wood, I think the most important thing is to thank God for journey mercy.
The first batch arrived they safely. And we all register our entry while the bus turn back to pick the remaining students.
Before 8 pm, everybody was able to arrive safely.
The manager of that place now gave us a welcome note with dinner for all. We then go separately to our hostels and rested for the day.

My journey was between regret and the opportunity to also learn something.

It was quite an adventure!!, for a trip. Here in Venezuela, we have a saying: "Like sardines in a can" to refer to those occasions when we find ourselves as crowded as on the trip you had.

Hi! Too bad the bus was so late, I understand how frustrating it is, during one of my school trips the same situation happened and we were all very upset.

I hope next time you can find a more comfortable and punctual bus, after all paying for a bad service is not good :(
