SEC-S14W3 | What I bring for travel? | my journey to my village, okrika

This is festive season and a lot of us will be traveling from one destination to another. Well, I’ll be taking you down some funny episodes during the course of this contest and why I prefer certain bag and why I don’t eat when traveling.

Rucksack has always been my favorite back right from time and there’s a reason for that. Let me just share the short story. When we traveled to the village for Christmas, we have this traditional masquerade festival that always hold from 11th to 17th of December. It involves masquerades dancing during the day and in the evenings for the dangerous masquerades. Those ones carry machetes chasing people. They use the surface part of the machetes to flog people not the sharp part. But it’s all part of the Christmas fun.

I and my siblings were heading to our family house with our luggage’s when the fiercest masquerade among them ambushed us from nowhere with his machete to flog us. You need to see the way we ran and left our luggage’s. I was still with my rucksack at my back and it was too heavy for me to run fast with it. The bag saved me that day. The masquerade kept flogging me but it was just hitting the bag while I kept running till he gave up. Since then, rucksacks became my favorite traveling bags. My sister’s luggage that was inside a suitcase broke into pieces because people stepped on it while they were scampering from the masquerade.

So, you can see the reason why I love rucksacks so much as my traveling bag. You can run with it anywhere in times of danger and you never can tell the day it might save you from a stray masquerade….😂😂😂

I won’t really say I’m a light traveler. whenever I’m going for a journey. I try as much as possible to make sure all my clothes fit into the rucksack. Sometimes, I go as far as ironing all my clothes then fold it in a way to make them fit in perfectly. I hate to lack clothes whenever I travel. Besides this, other basic things I carry includes:

• sponge
• Soap
• Toothpaste
• Brush
• Roll on and perfume and body cream
• Hair brush/comb
• Towel
• My head set and phone. I can stop a plane if I forget it at home because that’s one of my best companions especially in places where I’m going to for the first time.

Before now, whenever I travel and I see any snacks I like, I buy and eat. I don’t use to select. Until I learnt my lesson. During one of the journeys, I bought some snacks from one of this roadside hawkers. I’d no idea it was bad. It didn’t take long, I started having running stomach and was sweating profusely inside an AC boss. I begged the driver to stopped that I was pressed. This driver ignored me, pretending as if I was not talking to him until I couldn’t hold it anymore, I had to fart so, he could understand the war happening in my stomach. I almost poo on myself while trying to fart.

The driver had no choice than to stop for me to use the bush. The passenger sitting close to me was just looking at me with so much anger in his face because of the fart but I didn’t care. I just kept a straight face as if I was innocent.

Since that crazy episode, I know longer eat at all not even from my house as long as I’m traveling. If the hungry becomes so intense, I buy a loaf of bread alone to make sure I don’t even think of using the convenience till I get to my destination because what my eyes saw that day, my hands can’t even type it…. lol 😂

But if it is a private vehicle, I can eat as much as I can without fear because I know they will stop as many times as possible to use the convenience.

This is pretty much everything I’ll carry for a successful journey and back without any challenge. The smaller bag is what I use to carry this stuff to avoid cream or any kind of liquid spilling on the clothes.
