• Habitat destruction is a contributor, to the extinction of animals. It occurs when the natural homes of plants and animals are harmed or taken away through activities such as deforestation, urbanization and agriculture. When habitats are destroyed animals lose their havens for living finding food and raising their young. Many species cannot survive without their habitats resulting in a decline, in their population numbers and even the permanent disappearance of some. For instance, when forests are cleared monkeys and birds lose their dwellings. This is why it is crucial to protect habitats in order to prevent animal extinction; it provides them with an opportunity to thrive while maintaining our planet's biodiversity.

These magnificent birds have a role in maintaining an ecosystem by feeding on carcasses, which helps prevent the spread of diseases.
