Welcome to another post. Hopefully, all of you will be doing well and enjoying the time with the grace and blessings of Almighty Allah. Today, I'm here to be a part of the week 5 contest in the Reflexiones de Vida community. The topic of discussion for this week is Preservation of the planet: Animals in extinction. So, let's start the discussion without any wastage of time.

Mention some causes that have encouraged the extinction of animals

Animals are very important part of our ecosystem and they play a very vital role in the maintenance of the food chain. But unfortunately the species of animal are getting extinct due to some factors that are caused by the activities of human. Extinction actually means that there is no a single individual of that specie in a specific geographical area. Some major causes of extinction of animals are given below.

• Overhunting:

Overhunting has been one of the major issue for the animal species and because of the over hunting the ratio of that species decrease in a particular area and thus its long time effects my cars the extinction of that species.

• Climate Change:

The sphere climate changes my also affect the population of the animal species in a particular area. For example, some of the animals are adopted to the cold environment so when the climate changes and it becomes hot then there are chances that the species may not encounter the high temperature and become extinct.

• Deforestation:

The most important cause of the extinction of different animals species is the deforestation which means the cutting of trees at large scale. For getting lumber and timber, furniture, agricultural area, and various other benefits, the humans are deforesting the land and hence it cause the loss of habitat for many animal species.

• Pollution:

Another major cause of the extinction of animals species is the increasing rate of the environmental pollution. Many of the animal species cannot resist the I degree of pollution and thus it becomes the cause of extinction of those animals species.

What animals are in risk of extinction? You can refer to those that are endangered in your country or region where you live.

Endangered species are actually those animal species which are near to extinction. There are so many animal species which are endangered in the whole world but I will discuss about the endangered species in our country Pakistan.

• If we talk about the mammals: Indus River Dolphin, Markhor, Kashmir Vole and Asian Black Bear. These are some of the endangered species which are near to extinction.

• If we talk about the birds: Houbara Bustard, Bengal florican, Indian Peafowl. These are some birds species which are near to extinction in Pakistan.

• Talking about the Reptiles and Fishes: Gharial, Indus Crocodile, Marsh Crocodile, Hilsa Shad, Indus Blind Dolphin, Paddlefish. These are some reptiles and fish species which are endangered in Pakistan.

Above mentioned species are only those which are near to extinction in Pakistan. If we will talk about the whole world then there are number of other species including Asian Elephant, Snow Leopard, Mountain Gorilla, California Condor, Chinese Giant Salamander, Great White Shark, etc. These are some animal species which are near to extinction (endangered) world wide.

What measures do you suggest are necessary to apply to preserve animals threatened with extinction?

It is very much important to make necessary measures in order to prevent the endangered species from extinction. Some of the most important measures are as follow.

• Deforestation should be discouraged all around the world in order to provide habitat to those species who are near to extinction.

• We should try our best to control the environmental pollution so that there is minimal effect on the species which are near to extinction.

• The control of the invasive species is also very much important in order to prevent the endangered or threatened species from extinction.

• The Wild Life Conservative teams should be active all round the world in order to provide habitat and life facilities to the animals which are near to extinction.

• The government should enhance the awareness about the importance of the animal species which are near to extinction.

• Overhunting of the threatened species must be banned all around the globe in order to conserve the remaining species of the threatened species of animals.

Let's reflect a little: What would be your calling in the preservation of species in threatened with extinction?

The animal species are very much important for the maintenance of the food chain in our ecosystem so we should always try our best to prevent the animal species which are near to extinction. If I would talk about myself, I cannot do anything more effective as compared to the government or provincial level campaigns and steps in order to prevent the threatened species.

The only effective things that I can do is to guide and aware my people about the importance of the threatened species for the maintenance of our whole ecosystem. The effective measures should be made by the national and international organisations so that the rate of the extinction of these species should be reduced. The public awareness is very much important in this regard as well.
