The time capsule in a portrait - "Starry Eyed"

The beauty of photographs lie within the lines which cannot be read. The emotions they evoke stem from the perception of the viewer. The intimacy they share are which we consent to.

I have a self-portrait that has come along with me for a long way. A short way in comparison to time, but a long way in terms of experience and growth.

It was a snowy morning in Ukraine. I had just woken up from a tough day and stared down my window that overlooked a massive empty field. It was a view people paid big money for.

The lights from the sun reflected beautifully off of the fresh soft snow. There was a beautiful glow to it. I pondered long and hard about the things I went, was going, and would go through. There were tons of emotions that morning.

I decided to take my mind off of it. I didn't resort to substances, and the weather was way too cold for a walk. So, I decided to do something new. Something mentally challenging.

A PORTRAIT

I was never a portrait guy. There is just way too much that goes into capturing a person's image, feelings, emotions, character into a picture. There is so much technicality into choosing the lighting, camera and most importantly the accessories.

I did some research when I was into photography. Very quickly it was apparent that portrait wasn't for me. But I grabbed my low end phone, set it up against the window, set a timer and posed.

I posed topless and in a hoodie. I posed seriously and goofily. This is the shot that struck me as the perfect one.

I was pretty good at photoshop for someone who didn't take it seriously. I whipped out the PC, removed the background, fixed some little things here and there.

This picture is one of my favorites. A self-portrait, a selfie and so much more. I recently fixed the skin as I am investing more time into things like this. But in this picture you can notice the blemishes that make me human.

The art of photography and graphical enhancement is something I deeply enjoy. If there was one thing I could do for the rest of my life in a perfect scenario it would be painting. The only thing to substitute that would be photography and graphical enhancements.

When the lockdown started I set up a goal to do better and become better. I decided to invest time into passion and hobbies and get better at things I like.

That includes going crazy.
Here is the result of going crazy.
