For this week, we hunt for the letter "S" and with the slew of words that can be found, I really had a difficult time choosing which ones to include in this post. So after pondering on this for some time, here are the chosen words.
The first "S" is for Staghorn Fern
This type of fern is called Staghorn fern because their fronds resemble the forked antlers of a male deer or elk. We have 6 of these ferns with different ages, the eldest and biggest being about 16 years old (middle photo).
The second "S" is for Sleeping
Photos above are of my grandson, then about 9 months old sleeping while on a trip I to somewhere I've actually forgotten where. Photo below is a much later one showing him at 3 years old, still sleeping after a day at the beach.
The third "S" is for Soap
Interesting patterns for a soap? This is another one of my wife's avocation - Soap Making. She makes our own bath soap using different moulds and scents (all natural) so we don't have to worry about any harmful ingredients. I may come up with a separate post on this in the future.
The fourth "S" is for Spider Plant
The spider plant is so named because of its spider-like plants, or spiderettes, which dangle down from the mother plant like spiders on a web. The spider plant has grown in popularity because of its ability to produce oxygen while at the same time purifying the air inside the home or office. It acts as a detoxifying agent as it can absorb carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and xylene, chemicals that cause several ailments such as headaches, dizziness, eye irritation and more. It is one of 10 plants recommended by NASA to have inside the home based on a study they conducted in the late '80's called The Clean Air Study. It recommended having at least one of any of these 10 plants for every 100 square feet of room space to eliminate these chemicals and have fresh, clean and oxygen-rich air.
The fifth "S" is for Shadows.
I have so many of these shadow photos I just had to use this word so I can use some of them lol. If you'd like to join the Shadow Hunt Contest just look up the link here and you'll know why I have so many of these shadow photos :)
The sixth "S" is for Silver Coin
All our country's silver coins were minted by the United States up until 1945, our country being a former colony of the U.S. The photos show my wife's collection of silver coins and other old coins (though some are not silver) which she got from her grandmother.
And there you have it. My "S" hunt trophies. I hope you liked them and I really do thank you for visiting. Meanwhile, please stay safe and may you all have a blessed weekend ahead.
