Hello steemians!!
Today I wanna take part to this wonderful contest. During this time everywhere in the world suffers because of Covid-19. Many of our fellowmen lost their job, this contest will be an opportunity to those who are in need to be heard. I want to be an instrument to those who less fortunate. And I am hoping that through my post I will be able to touch people's heart and be open to sharing and giving. With the little help that one can share and you'll be a big blessing to others.
As I have featured before, me and my co teachers/steemians visited the island of Olango. This island is located near Lapu-lapu City, the island where I live. Unlike my city, Olango is more country side. I have been to this place several times because of its beautiful and crystal clear beaches. But when I visited this place for a charity event it was my first time to witness how many of the people in the island suffer from poverty and hunger.
I have noticed that a lot of the children run in barefoot and don't have the proper clothing.
Just like this little girl, when we saw her she can't really talk much. As you can see she has no slippers and her legs were full of wounds. She also doesn't have a proper clothing. She was left alone at home because her father went fishing, according to a neighbor her mother left them, I did not ask for the details but I can see she and her family is in a very difficult situation. We gave her some groceries and told her to tell her father about it.
As you can see in the picture these children are wearing oversized shirt and with no footwear. Probably they are wearing their older sibling or parents shirt. It would have been nicer if we could see this children wear an appropriate shirt for their age. As a mother I'd always feel happy whenever I see my kids love the clothes I buy them. They'd wear it all the time. That's what I imagine looking at these kids wearing a shirt their size.
I hope they'd get comfortable slippers too, even if the island is mostly sand it would be nicer to walk in comfort. Being able to wear a durable and colorful slippers would probably make these kids very happy.
Malnutrition is very common in the island. Children don't eat enough food. If they get to eat usually they have canned sardines.
And lastly I hope to come back to the island and visit this 19-year old boy. All his life he has been trapped in a situation he can't escape. He can't talk, walk or even move any part of his body. Not like ordinary kids he can't eat normal foods. He also has to be in a diaper. So if I will be chosen for this contest, I hope to get clothes, slippers, food, milk and diaper for the children of Olango. With any donation or help I will receive I would be so give it all to them. Each children has different needs and I am hoping to share the donation I will receive to them.
Children has always have a special place in my heart. Their pure smile and simple joys lifts my day. As a mother seeing my children happy and healthy is the best reward. I know all parents feel the same way, so it aches my heart to see other children not being able to experience even simple things like proper clothes and healthy and delicious food.
I support this initiative Ma'am @bisayakalog.
