Hey guys. I really didn't want to delay the next release of SteemPoll. However, I was forced to do it because I had tested positive for covid and had to take leave even from my office and could not even sit in front of my laptop without having a headache. So, I decided to take a break.
After I tested negative, the amount of work piled up in my regular job was way too high that I could not give much time for my development activities here at Steem. This eventually resulted in the massive delay that we are seeing right now. I wanted to make this post just to let you guys know that I have not abandoned this project and will ensure that I implement all the features along with a few more that the German community requested.
What has been completed right now?
The biggest problem faced by SteemPoll was that there aren't many users who use Steem Keychain. In my opinion, everyone on their computer should use Steem Keychain as it is the safest way for one to interact with the Steem Blockchain.
Now that this issue was identified, I started to bring the Steem-js library into my application I have already got this to work on my environment. However, the things that I still need to work on include being able to handle the output that the functions of Steem-js that I use.
Additionally, one of my biggest fears is regarding the security of the private posting key which is needed. I am doing a ton of research to ensure that I have a secure solution that I can open up to the public. I don't want to release an application that is not secure enough to log in. So, doing all these is taking a bit longer than what I hoped for.
That being said, all these features that I spoke about here are very close to their release and I expect to release them on or before the 6th of Feb.
The Crypto Dip:
I know that a lot of you are scared of the crypto dip that we are in right now. I have different views on this. The thing with crypto dips is that it gives us the much-needed time to develop and improve the platform/DApp. The bearish conditions help the developers to think and develop features that would ensure that users stick around even when the bull run comes back.
Here on Steem, I can see the same thing happening. Etainclub, Gorilla, Steemchiller, Remlaps are all still around and are making developments regardless of the market conditions. It is these changes that would define how good our next bull run pump is going to be.
During the bear market we build to reap the rewards during the bull run!
With that, I would be ending this short update on SteemPoll for you guys. The next time I post, it would be the release announcement. So, see you all on that post.
That sounds very good :-)
I agree with you. If users do not want to use KeyChain, they have to enter the key somewhere else. And this is not necessarily more secure. The default method of logging in once and staying logged in via the cookie is not much better.

Eventually, when I get more time, I would be probably even handling Keychain development. Hopefully, once I start giving regular updates on this, more users would switch over to keychain.

best wishes for your health . and i think this is good news for new development. currently i am working on the understanding of Steemit Api's which is really interesting.
KeyChain indeed a easy way to interact but i think security concerns stops the user to use it.
Good Day.
