#Ripple chief technology officer David Schwartz proposed to #XRP #Ledger a #unified #sidechain to enable the integration of smart contracts.

🚩In his article on the subject, #Schwartz said that they had previously looked at side chain development as they did not want the payments issue to remain in the background, but that the demand for this issue increased with the serious growth of the #DeFi #industry, and used the following statements:

“What we want to do here is for each sidechain to act as its own blockchain. As with XRP Ledger, it will have its own ledgers and transactions. Its most important feature will be the federation system, which allows XRP and other issued tokens to pass from one chain to another.”

🚩Schwartz also said that unified sidechains allow developers to create their own smart contracts with the ability to interact with XRP and XRP Ledger.

🚩Ripple's head of development, Matt Hamilton, also said that the combined sidechains will give central banks the opportunity to build their own networks that will remain tied to the ledger.

As it is known, Ripple contacted central banks earlier this year to offer a special version of XRP Ledger.
