I really feel like a professional victim of fraud. Before, when I bought succulents, I got scammed by buying chemically treated ones. I accepted that.
Later, in December last year, I saw that dried - branch flower arrangements were quite popular online. I also wanted to buy a bunch of dried branches. I thought that if I put them in water for a couple of months, they would be in full bloom by the Spring Festival. I thought that would be really beautiful.
I carefully selected a kind of pink flower called "Pearl Plum". Its flowers were completely different from peach blossoms. Judging from the seller's renderings, the flowers were in clusters, densely packed from top to bottom, and very attractive.
However, after I bought them in December and placed them for three months, I even thought I had bought dry wooden sticks and that they would never bloom.
But on Valentine's Day, suddenly three or four flower buds appeared, and one flower even bloomed directly. This made me a little delighted.
But when I looked closely at the blooming flowers, I felt they looked so familiar. Weren't they exactly the same as the peach blossoms downstairs in our community? But I clearly bought the plant called "Pearl Plum".
I compared the blooming flowers with the seller's pictures in the product link and found they were indeed different. I felt I had been scammed again.
So I confronted the seller, took pictures and questioned him, "Boss, what's going on with this wrong - product? It's false advertising!"
The boss didn't say much and directly refunded me. He probably knew he was in the wrong and that he was selling fake products, so he refunded me without any nonsense.
Alas, for an outsider like me who doesn't know much about plants, I'm likely to be scammed about five times out of ten purchases. But at least it bloomed. Even if they are peach blossoms, it's okay. Spring has come to Wuhan. Let's see how many peach blossoms will bloom on these dozen or so dried branches in the next half - month to a month.
