A total of 500 students in Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province participated in a fast counting competition at the Old District Secretariat Hall, Sunday, August 11, 2024.
The activity was held by students of the Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University (USK) Banda Aceh, class of 2021, with participants from Elementary School (SD), Middle School (SMP), and High School (SMA) throughout Bireuen Regency.
Secretary of the Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, USK Banda Aceh, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ella Meilianda said that there were 500 participants from 82 elementary, middle and high schools in this fast counting competition. It is hoped that they can compete in the 30th Faculty of Engineering fast counting competition.
"This competition has been held since 1994, previously the concentration was only in Banda Aceh, now students have gone to districts/cities in Aceh Province," said Ella Meilianda.
"We hope that this competition can run smoothly and thank all parties who have helped and facilitated the venue," added Ella Meilianda.
Acting Chair of the Faculty of Engineering Calculation Competition (LBFT) Bireuen, Aqsha said that this activity is one of the biggest student events in Aceh which has been held routinely for the past 29 years. LBFT is a form of dedication and active role of the USK Civil Engineering Student Association (HMS) in an effort to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, especially Aceh.
This is in accordance with the goals of the Indonesian nation as stated in the opening of the 1945 Constitution, Paragraph 4, namely to Educate the Nation's Life.
"This competition is to facilitate participants to have the spirit to compete, we hope that participants can participate in a sporting and orderly manner," said Aqsha.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Bireuen Education and Culture Office, Zamzami said that in Aceh there is still a lack of numeracy and literacy. For numeracy today, it has been carried out by the USK Faculty of Engineering and later there will be activities in the form of literacy to build better education.
"We support this activity as an effort to make education in Aceh better," said Zamzami.
