Assalamu'alaikum...
Who do you call your friends....?

Friends are people who support you in your high and low, they are people who believe in you even when the whole world can't see your potentials, they just have a way of seeing the real you, when everyone doesn't.
They help you make your dreams realistic and bring opportunities to you.

That's the real meaning of friendships, it's meant to grow you, you should be better in a friendship as a person than when u never had one, cause you are able to learn a whole lot from this person.

If you use this as a yard Stick, you find out that most people aren't in friendships but cages of low self esteem and inferiority complex and they surround themselves with people who they feel make them better, but actually they make them worse.

There is a saying, show me your friend and I will tell you who you are, or birds of the same feather flocks together, this is true cause the level of your mentality and your mind set, is based on the people you surround yourself with.

You should be sincere enough to get rid of people who do not invest positively in you today.

I would say I feel safer around people who genuinely show me how much they value me by their actions, than mere words.
