In Chinese culture, noodles are a symbol of longevity. For this reason, noodles are traditionally served on birthdays and on Chinese New Year as a symbol of longevity. The Chinese version of birthday cake is birthday noodles. In Japan, noodles are incorporated into the Japanese tea ceremony, and noodle making is considered an art form. Noodles became more important in Japan after World War II, when food shortages were rampant and dry foods such as noodles became the only food item available. In almost every Asian culture, noodles are associated with well-being and a long life and can be considered as a delicacy of Asian food.
