Do you have a restaurant in Chiang Mai? Then this is the place to shop. Do you have a kitchen in Chaing Mai? This is still the place to go. You have a small gas stove and a dry frying pan that you use for cooking outside your hotel room? Yep, come to Mueng Mai Market and you won't be disappointed.

My first time to this market was about 15 years ago when I first came to Chiang Mai. It's kind of weird coming back because everything has that fuzzy distant memory feeling. Like hey, I feel like I've been here before, oh yeah, that's right, I've been a long time!

I can proudly state that not much has changed. Only many people wear masks around their chins and believe that this market is not a breeding ground for all kinds of germs.

Due to my travels being hampered by the virus, I have slowed down my travels and have been living in Chiang Mai for a while. A real gem of a small town to set yourself in. This market is one reason why; this is the biggest and best Thai open air market in all of Northern Thailand. they have the best selection by far and the best price.

Come here with a twenty dollar bill and you will be set with fruit and fruit for a month! And we are talking about top quality, and depending on the season, you can get amazing fruit that will make you ask where have you been all my life?

I would honestly say sanitary conditions have improved over the years and there might be a few stalls here where I would buy meat, but I didn't. I only get fruit and vegetables in this market. That is kind of my rule when traveling through countries like Thailand, buy products in this market, best quality and lowest price; get the meat at the western style supermarket, of which there are plenty in Chiang Mai. They are often next to Gucci stores in large shopping malls.

Another thing I love about this market is that it is raw! This is old school! These are sights, sounds, colors and joy! That's how it has been for a long time! It is food and culture mixed into one; and it's a great place to take some photos! Now come on, let's see Mueng Mai Market in Chiang Mai Thailand!
