On 2nd January 1992, legendary cricketer Shane Warne made his test debut
Shane Warne made his Test debut for Australia on January 2, 1992, during the first Test of the 1991–92 Ashes series against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Warne's debut performance wasn't spectacular by the standards that would later define his career, but it marked the beginning of an era of legendary leg-spin bowling. In the first innings of the match, Warne went wicketless, bowling 19 overs and conceding 150 runs. However, in his second innings, he took 1 wicket for 47 runs, dismissing India's Ravi Shastri.
Warne's debut wasn't immediately remarkable in terms of wickets, but it set the stage for what would become one of the most extraordinary careers in cricket history. Over the following years, Warne would develop into a masterful bowler, eventually becoming one of the game's greatest-ever spin bowlers. He retired with 708 Test wickets, a record that remained unbeaten for many years.
