Thursday.
This is yesterday's actifitivity, so it's actually Friday already and I totally did that on purpose because I found some decent #fungifriday shots on my afternoon walk into the forest.
The first eyecatcher was hard to miss. A big white polypore growing from a tree stump, with one of its brackets entirely covered in amazingly saturated green algae.
The second specimen wasn't as easy to see. High up on the trunk of a dying beech tree, slightly out of the line of sight, but the smaller ones down below gave it away.
It's a porcelain fungus. Stepping on the little stump, with a fully stretched out arm, I barely managed to get my phone up there to capture some closer shots.
The creamy white color and slimy looking surface make these quite easy to identify. Their most outstanding feature, though, and what makes them particularly interesting for taking pictures, is their semi translucent appearance from underneath against the light:
Beautiful, isn't it?
Let's look a little closer:
Nature is amazing!
