First day post lockdown sees my wife heading off to work in the city. Cold morning had me moving slowly. Nice to get a visit from the king parrot.
Clear blue sky had me focused on doing laundry and going for a big loop walk to check up on orchids.
Was more a day for fungi starting with this purple cluster - 4 or 5 there were. Coastal maroonhood have some way to go. One plant had been pulled out the ground - I figured I could see if it would recover in my garden.
The light played really nicely on these
I liked the spider webs under these
The pink wax flower is always a treat
As is the red grevillia - looks like an octopus with the tendrils hanging down.
Not patient enough to capture insects in the banksia
Or to get a really focused shot of acianthus exsertus - large mosquito orchid. Light was bad and hands were shaky.
Light was perfect for this underside shot - top down photo was shiny with water reflecting a lot of light. Crossed to the other side of the creek - last of the sharp greenhoods. No labellum showing as it has been pollinated
These two mushrooms are cute - about an inch tall and 3 or 4 mm across. Also suffering from reflected light.
Did get a fab viewing of a yellow tailed black cockatoo - no photos but did get video. Next pic is also an acianthus orchid. Which one baffles me as it is in green form and wider galea than the other one.
Found helmet orchids below the track in the undergrowth. Not seen them here before. Colour is different and galea is narrower and there are no spurs. First plant is a bit withered.
Next plant is out of focus and I did not get underneath. I am thinking it might be corybas dowlingii. Tomorrow I go to check as it is endangered.
Contrast this one which I am more confident is corybas aconitiflorus
Edit: I did go back and check. I got better picture and then found another flower in the locality - corybas aconitiflorus it was. When the flower starts to dry out it goes red and the spurs fall away.
Did find a few more nodding greenhoods ready to flower
And a flower not previously photographed
The top down photo shows the labellum and column through the galea
Spent the afternoon pushing through the next Kevin Fahey sales funnel on Affiliate Marketing Mastery. Disappointed to find the checklist lead magnet has been spun - grammar is rubbish = might need a rewrite. I will run with it and rewrite later.
Dinner: Massaman beef cooked the day before using rump roast left over from a few days back.
Trade action: Markets opened sharply lower which feels like dip time. Bought: CBK.DE, GLE.PA, ENGI.PA in Europe and DD, COST, LIT, BMY, CLF, GE in USA. Quite a few were to buy back stock that will be assigned this week. Wrote covered calls on new holdings mostly for July expiry and with 10% coverage. Premiums remain hofh. .
Also took up share offer in NTU.AX (rare earths)
