Vaux swifts (Chaetura vauxi) are migrating North after the winter. They LOVE to stay the night in chimneys and there is one in our city that is preserved simply for their use. Of course a hawk has observed this handy food delivery this time a year and takes up post on top of the chimney to snag one.
Beautiful creatures. It's been really rainy and I think it's made it weird for the swifts but I'm not sure.
Can you spot the hawk? I'm not sure which hawk specifically from this distance and I don't think I'll speculate. But it was fun to watch.
