As I walked, I passed through charming villages like Chipping Campden and Broadway, where I took a moment to admire the iconic honey-colored limestone buildings that give this area its distinctive character. In Chipping Campden, I visited the ancient market hall, which dates back to the 17th century, and is still a focal point of the village today.
Along the way, I encountered several fellow walkers. One couple I met were from London and had come to the Cotswolds for a weekend getaway. We chatted about their favorite walking routes and shared tips on local pubs and eateries. They recommended a particularly lovely spot in Broadway called The Lygon Arms, a historic inn that has hosted many famous guests over the years, including Oliver Cromwell and King Charles I.
Later, I stopped to take in the view from Broadway Tower—a stunning folly that stands atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It was built in the 18th century as a lookout tower and is now a great spot for photography.
The walk was punctuated by the sounds of nature; I enjoyed the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant call of a cuckoo. The air was fresh and filled with the scent of wildflowers, and I even spotted a few sheep grazing peacefully in the fields.
Overall, it was a wonderful day of exploration, history, and connection with fellow nature lovers. The Cotswolds never fail to charm, and I can't wait for my next adventure in this beautiful part of England!
