Wow!!! What a day π³. We went from a mild morning walk to a hot late morning run to a late afternoon fast walk in a driving thunderstorm mixed with hail - yikes.
Lulu and I were out the door before 6 am for a very nice 2 miles. The sky was clear and the temperature just right for a brisk walk all by ourselves and we completed the route in good time.
As the morning processed and the temperature rose up to the upper 90s I decided that Lynx Lake would be the place to go and hike, hoping the elevation and maybe some breeze would moderate the heat π₯΅π₯.
The lake was crowded with families enjoying the cool lake and we met quite a few on the trails as well.
I made sure to let Lulu splash around in the water several times and splashed water al over her to keep her nice and damp and cool (plus a cooling bandana as well). Even with some shade along the way and dips on the lake, Lulu was definitely happy when we finally reached the car after the 3 miles.
The sky was filling with ominous clouds when I started my solo afternoon walk and a sudden wind and temperature drop told me a storm was about to hit. Fortunately it was initially light rain π§ for most of the way but just a little under a mile to go the rain came down in torrents along with pea-sized hail. I quickly jogged the rest of the way along flooding streets to make it back home drenched but happy π.
Plan to take a family trip to Flagstaff tomorrow to look around at some cool shops and hike a bot as well.
