My Actifit Report Card: June 30 2024

We had a great hike up on the Flagstaff mountains where it was almost 20 degrees cooler (as well as about 3000 feet higher).

We woke up before sunrise and had plenty of time for an extra early morning walk. Of course an early Sunday morning meant we were all alone for a good 3 miles before heading up to the mountains.
The trail we hiked was a short section of the Arizona Trail that climbed up onto Humphreys Peak and past the Arizona Snowbowl (which was lush and green despite the lack of rain).

The trail crossed over the road leading to the ski area so it was simple to park nearby and head out and ip the winding dirt path (which had plenty of rocks to keep me alert to my footing).
The initial section was easy enough but soon the trail began a steady climb up along the rock strewn mountainside and under thr tall pines canopy.

Every now and then I had a wonderful view of the countryside below the mountain but most of the time it was just the dense mountain forest scenery to enjoy (while trying to keep an eye out for protruding rocks) and an occasional mountain biker heading downhill).
We stopped at a level clearing after almost 3 miles and 700 feet of climbing where Lulu enjoyed a nice drink then it was the much easier descent back down the trail.
We finished up with almost 6 tough miles and a beautiful day on the mountain - can't wait to hit these trails again 😀.
