Azka seemed enthusiastic about seeing the mountain views along the way. Upon arriving in Takengon, we headed straight to Lake Lut Tawar. The atmosphere there was very calm, the lake water was clear, and the cool air made us want to linger on the edge of the lake. We rented a boat to go around the lake, and Azka was very happy to see the birds flying around the lake.
After we were satisfied playing in the lake, we had lunch at one of the local food stalls. Typical Gayo dishes such as grilled depik fish and Gayo coffee made this dining experience very memorable. We also went around the small town of Takengon, enjoyed the market atmosphere and tasted some of the local snacks.
This holiday was truly a valuable time for our family.
It was nice to be able to bring home a little "taste" of Takengon to enjoy at home. The trip home was made more memorable by bringing these fresh souvenirs, which will remind us of the beauty of our vacation in the mountains.
