Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "An Oath of Love" as part of my participation in this 👉contest organized by @cruzamilcar63
Is there any difference between promising and swearing?
Yes, there is a difference between promising and swearing which we have shared here. Promising is all about someone committing to do something, based on the person's intention or the person's integrity. Swearing on the other hand is like taking an oath that is stronger and sometimes being scared, which involves someone invoking a higher authority such as law, or God as his or her witness.
If I make a promise to someone it means I made a commitment based on my intention or personal integrity, whereas if I am swearing I am making a stronger promise to both higher authority and to the person or people that I want to serve or deliver that I must do what I have promised and swear for. In summary, swearing is like invoking a higher authority into promising.
Is the oath an act that is still considered sacred or in our dissipated present time it no longer has any importance?
Well, I cannot say much about the oath, but I can say that to some extent oath may not hold some sacred value, but it still carries significant weight in a personal context, religious and legal. In places like public office, religious ceremonies, and courtrooms, I can tell you that oaths remain very important. In Nigeria, there's what we call the oath of office, which is usually taken by new appointees.
However, since we are now in a modern world, many people may view oath-taking as a mere formality rather than a spiritual obligation to bind moral people who aren't scared of taking oaths because of how people still act in their various offices despite the oath they have taken.
Do you consider the oath of love to be a romantic expression or a sentimentality that disguises insecurity?
This is what I haven't done before, but if I am to say I would say that it depends on the intention behind the oath. We all know that an oath of love means a deeply romantic gesture that symbolizes devotion and commitment of both partners not separating from each other no matter what happens. However, people take the oath of love to be a romantic expression as a way to compensate for the insecurity in their relationship, to create strong emotional assurance rather than showing genuine commitment in their relationship.
Do you know of any real or fictional case in which the fulfillment of an oath of love led to happiness between two people?
Yes, I have heard of so many stories about oaths of love that lead to happiness and some that lead to sadness. The latest one that I heard of happened recently which was about two lovers who started dating in their childhood and took an oath of love to remain faithful to each other.
The lovers are both married and living happily as we read. Despite the hardships they face they remain faithful to themselves and thrive and succeed in getting married based on their mutual commitment that functions based on the oath they took.
Hola amigo, cierto las personas ven el juramento como una simple formalidad , en vez de mirarla como un compromiso espirtual.
Saludos.
