The Asian Cricket Council is considering Bangladesh instead of Sri Lanka as it is the only option. The UAE cannot host matches in August and September.
Lahore (Urdu Point Latest Newspaper. May 20, 2022) The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is expected to shift the Asia Cup 2022 from Sri Lanka to Bangladesh due to political uncertainty and economic crisis in the country. According to reports, the Asian Cricket Council is considering Bangladesh as it is the only option. The UAE cannot host matches in August and September.
Bangladesh is currently the only option and the Asian Cricket Council is monitoring the situation in Sri Lanka before reaching a final decision. The UAE is definitely not an option to host matches in late August and early September. Earlier this week, Cricket Australia said it would visit Sri Lanka next month despite heightened tensions amid recent developments in the peninsular country's political crisis.
The Australian team has to play 3 Twenty20, 5 ODI and 2 Test matches. The Asia Cup 2022 is to be held in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11 in T20 format. Another team including Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will participate in this event. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently accepted Sri Lanka Cricket's request to end the ODI series with a tour of Sri Lanka in July and will now play only two Test matches. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has assured that the national team will visit Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in late July-August despite the ongoing unrest in the country.
