"God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice for they will be satisfied"
(Matt. 5:6)
Very few of us really know what it's like to be hungry and thirsty. The people Jesus spoke to knew only two well. They were genuinely poor. He gave them bread to eat and then you first in it was form.
But the People's hunger couldn't be satisfied by refreshments served with tea; their thirst couldn't be quenched with a cup of coffee. Rather it was the hunger of the dying the thirst of someone who would die if he wasn't given something to drink. This is why Jesus often spoke of the brand and the water of life.
Now Jesus applies this hunger and thirst to our spiritual lives. He comes to us with a serious question and a challenge: "how serious are you to do what is right before God?" Many of us have noble ideas for our relationship with God but when the decisive moment comes we aren't willing to make a necessary effort.
Thank you Redeemer and savior that I heard you're knock at the door and I of my heart and opened the door to you.
