Hello fellow steemians
Hope all is well with us. Some weeks ago I talked about my career journey from day one to the end of primary school. That which you can still read here 👉

INTRODUCTION
After having FSLC I applied for admission at GTC Ekondo Titi and was granted admission and later called up for interview 😹😹 little me, interview!!. I went there and it was successful. Upon resumption, my parents sent me to stay with one woman who we weren’t even related to in any way. This decision was because they couldn’t rent me a house then and the school was very far from home. Secondly, I wasn't old enough to stay alone. I was the smallest in the whole of this secondary school that year by size, height and age.

SECONDARY SCHOOL
GTC Ekondo Titi was divided into two sections, Clothing Industry CI)/Home Economics (HE) for girls and Building Construction (BC)/Electrical Engineering (EE)/Word Work (WW) for boys. One could decide and follow the options for girls or that of boys but it should be only one option. I followed the BC/EE/WW trend where your main option is determined by the success you have during orientations. The whole year in form one is considered as orientation. The class of form one is divided into three groups, group A starts with BC; group B starts with EE; group C starts with WW. The orientation was done in such a way that you start from one option within a trend (girls or boys trend) and by third term you are ending with the last option of your trend.
I was in group A where we started from BC for the first term, EE for second term, and WW for the third term. I was quite unserious during the first term because I didn’t like BC and preferred to study well during the EE term. Because of this I failed with an average between 8&9/20. By the second term, which was my favorite, I became used to being absent from classes like I was during the first term. I struggled to struggle with this bad attitude and ended up with an average between 10&10.5/20. It came to my notice that I could repeat form one and from then I woke up from “sleep”. During the final term option (WW) I did my best and became the best in the whole school for that term with an area between 13.5&14/20 which enabled me to have an overall pass to form two.
Going to form two was trouble for me because of an option I didn’t like at all (WW). I couldn’t imagine myself becoming a furniture man for life 🤦♂️.
During one summer holiday my father had an accident during work in *PAMOL*. Everything turned upside down and life became hell for everyone in the family. I did some odd jobs around and made *50,000FCFA* for those three months and when it was time to resume school there was nothing from my family for me for any schooling purposes.
Luckily one day early September that year, someone from the ministry of social affairs met my dad and told him he should visit their office for my education to be funded by the government 😁. With no time to waste, my dad and I went to that office and they asked him some questions and the doctor’s report about his arm that got broken due to the accident at the company. I was also interviewed on my interest in academics. After that meeting I was taken to school (*GTC Ekondo Titi*) by the delegate of *social affairs, Ekondo Titi subdivision* then. He handed me to the principal alongside some documents and so I started school for free that year.

Later my father was given a disability card and I started school again. I became the best in WW from then until when I wrote *CAP* (*2010/2011 academic year*). When I wrote *CAP*I was so confident that I would pass due to my performances in class as the best student. It was terrible but as students we couldn’t see it coming. I was the first in my class in regional mock exams which I had an average of *5/20*, imagine!!! After writing *CAP* and results came out with all internal students of my option failing, it was a nightmare. I was so afraid because the man at the ministry of social affairs told me that “failing is not welcome here” and so at the end of each term I had to show him my report card. After the bad results I was so afraid to go to the office but finally I decided to go there and face it. When I broke the news to him, he was so disappointed 😞.

He immediately took me to the school since it was time for admissions again and officials were available on campus. He met the bursar and he asked for my performance from the bursar and the bursar gave him good recommendations about me. At that point he said I shouldn’t worry but try to do better next academic year. I told him I want to go to school in kumba where I can stay with my elder brother and he accepted and supported the idea. With his directions I went to kumba and submitted an application together with some other requirements at the ministry of social affairs there in order to study in *GTC kumba*. This was after I had already been taken for admission into the school. Finally I was given the scholarship to study in GTC kumba in the academic year *2011/2012*. I did my best and became the second best in WW during the mock exams with an average of *8.88/20* in *GTC kumba*. Guys in this school were very tough and they studied a lot. That was when I stepped up my study game. When *CAP* results came out. I had an Assiez bien grade ☺️.
That marked the end of my secondary school days. I later applied to study industrial chemistry at GTHS Kumba (SOFATI) commonly called CANADA. We’ll grab the high school story on another episode 😉

Chai boy I read sote my heart cut 🤣. Anyways It's really great that you remember every detail of your secondary school life it was really interesting. Failure is one thing we can never determine no matter our performance in school we can still fail public exams. Nice use of markdowns and also try to go through your work after writing.

I could flash back to how my secondary school was and could see some tough aspect you had. Remember, examination is not the true test of knowledge as they say. Hope the lessons you learnt from it and many others who will read this writeup should remember that there is no body who is dull. Each individual have his or her inerts potential and we also need that extrinsic motivation to push forward. It also reminds me of how my first son is , i had to teach him something and do work with him at home and his teacher will tell me he does very well in class but in exams he won't meet up my expectations. Though when failure faced those who didn't expect , it gives them that urge of hard work and more zeal of determination.
