Hi, friend. How are you doing? I trust that you are doing well. March 8 this year marked International Women's Day and the theme for this year's celebration was “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”.
We have gone through this process year in and year out but how can we bring a lasting solution to the issue of gender inequality which is almost like a norm even in today's technologically developed world? In this contest, I will write on the following areas,
👉🏾How I hope to help your community forge a gender-equal world
👉🏾How celebrating Women's International day can increase visibility and equality
👉🏾 Discuss whether the Feminism fight and the Women’s Rights fight are the same
👉🏾 Share my thoughts about women in top positions like Presidents, Parliamentarians, Senators, CEOs (Chief Executive Officers), and COO (Chief Operations Officers)
👉🏾 Then, discuss what makes a good leader.
Please do not forget to leave a comment so I can learn from you too. Welcome once again.
When God created the world, He said, _“So let us make man in our own image.” (Genesis 1 vs 27a, KJV) Man here referred to both male and female. It continues, “in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them.” (Genesis 1 vs 27b, KJV) Because the creation story suggests that the creator created males first, many people believe that males are superior to females and should be given more respect and entitled to better privileges. Another scripture used to support this is apostle Paul's teaching in 1 Corinthians 11:3. Some versions say that the man is the head of the woman as Christ is his head while others interpret it as “the husband is the head of his wife as Christ is his head.”
For this reason, women have been expected to remain subservient in their homes, schools and workplaces. However, using the scripture as a guide, I have come to understand that Christ being the head of the church, didn't expect anyone to be subservient to him. In fact, he washed the feet of his disciples once and asked them to do so too because according to him, every leader must be the servant of his people and must serve in humility and servitude. This can be found in Matthew 20:26-28 and Matthew 23:11.
👉🏾How I hope to help your community forge a gender-equal world
Since Christ wants us to love one another and treat each other right, the same way we will love to be treated, I see it as my duty to educate people on the need to adopt this lifestyle through writing like now, speaking and practising what I preach.
👉🏾How celebrating Women's International day can increase visibility and equality
Humans learn through being enlightened and educated. It requires unlearning what our progenitors believed should be the norm and relearning what can make the world better.
Through the IWD celebration, females are now encouraged to contribute meaningfully to society by acquiring quality education and getting involved in boosting the economy by also creating jobs and employment opportunities for others. All these and many more have brought about a mind shift. In more developed societies, more women are getting career-driven and less pleasure-driven, if you understand what this means. This is an effective way to break gender bias.
👉🏾 Are the Feminism fight and the Women’s Rights fight the same?
Yes, in a way. Feminism and the Women's Rights movements are concerned with dealing with gender differences and they both advocate for female gender inclusiveness.
👉🏾 My thoughts about women in top positions like Presidents, Parliamentarians, Senators, CEOs (Chief Executive Officers), and COO (Chief Operations Officers)
So many women are currently getting more involved in politics and leadership which is commendable. They have made a positive effort to add their quota to national development.

My boss, Princess Victoria Ibokette is a good example of these women. She just ran for a seat in the senate for Akwa Ibom N/East. She's a quintessential woman who is also a big history of many leaders and the foundation of different political parties. This is no biased evaluation of her personality and suitability for leadership.
👉🏾 What makes a good leader, is it gender or merit?
Going back to the principles of Christ, a leader should be a person who is willing and ready to serve. So this is a metric for every good leader. So it's merit, not gender.
Beliefs and cultures differ but using the teachings of Christ which have always guided my everyday lifestyle, I have been able to show you why I chose to adopt gender equality. Not only have I mentioned this, but you've seen how I practice it as well. Truth be told, our world is fast already embracing gender equality and visibility. It's your choice to join the flow now or join it later. Meanwhile, let's remember that leadership is servitude and gender is no determiner of who a good leader is.
