In solemnity of the souls who died without any form of repentance, let us light up candles and make a prayer so that the Lord will find mercy on their souls in purgatory.
Today we are commemorating the day of all souls, a day set aside by the Catholic church to pray for all souls all over the world, so without further ado let me tell you more about this day by following the guide questions..
What do you know about the day?
The day of all souls is a day set aside by the Catholic church on the 2nd of November every year to make a prayer for all the souls who have died without receiving baptism or converted to the Christian way. This day was set following the Bible verse 2 Maccabees 12: 42-46. The day is celebrated with mass made for the souls then lighting of candles either by those who lost loved ones or any other person who wants to pray for the souls in purgatory.
Propose and Draw a Mascot to represent the day.
For the Day of the Souls (Día de los Muertos or All Souls' Day), I propose a mascot that honors the spirit of the celebration:
Name: "Lumin"
Description: Lumin is a friendly, glowing marigold-petal spirit with a warm smile.
Symbolism:
- Marigold petals represent the traditional flowers used to honor the deceased.
- Glow symbolizes the light guiding spirits back to their families.
- Smile represents the joy and love shared during the celebration.
Design:
- Body: Golden-orange marigold petal shape with soft, glowing edges.
- Face: Gentle, smiling face with closed eyes, symbolizing respect and remembrance.
- Accessories: A delicate, glowing candle on Lumin's head, surrounded by tiny, shimmering cobwebs.
Lumin embodies the warmth, love, and remembrance that defines the Day of the Souls. This mascot will help create a positive, uplifting atmosphere, inviting people to share their stories and traditions.
What are the changes you think this day has brought to your community.
The day has changed the way people see the afterlife, and has brought hope to most Christians who lost their loved ones, to think that you can continue to pray for your family, friend, or person close to you even after they pass is a relief.
Who are the active promoter, and what do you think can be added to have more impact to your community.
The active promoters of this day are the Catholic church and also the Brazilians who take their to a whole new level by actually digging up the bones of their loved ones to make a connection. What will actually make an added impact to this day it's if it is celebrated like the Corpus Christi where there is a parade but this time it'll be with candles around the city.
