Protect your bones

It's a brand new week and another contest has been launched by #cameroon, it's amazing and I'm glad to participate once more in it, today I'll be writing onosteoporosis day, so y'all stay tuned and enjoy...

What do you know about the day?

World Osteoporosis day (WOD) is celebrated annually on October 20 and it's a day set aside by the United Kingdom in support with the European commission as a project to stop Osteoporosis in the year 1996. Until today it's been commemorated every year because the world have made great progress in informing the population, and providing the best treatment to patients.

Osteoporosis is a disease that renders bones to become brittle, so soft that any slight injury or sudden impact can result to a fracture which is very painful and agonizing. It is usually caused by old age but it can also be caused by genetic defaults.

How do you or your country or your organization celebrate the day?

World Osteoporosis day is celebrated by creating awareness of the disease world wide, since it was taken seriously after 1996, other organizations such as international osteoporosis foundation (IOF), World Health organization (WHO) all funded the project to establish awareness of the disease so that there'll be little casualties in future. So we are not just celebrating this day because we should but because we want to but because we are reminded of the efforts made by recent scientists to improve on health of individuals world wide.

What impact does your community gain during and after the commemoration?

As always, when there's such a day as this, there's always campaign launches that take place, in these campaigns there's always distribution of flyers that contain information about the disease, checking bone density of individuals to know their current states, this is supported by #health communities providing free drugs to those who might be suspected of low bone density, and they also do some fun activities as well as perform sketches that pass vital information. After the day, it is obvious that there'll be a widespread of information which will help lots of people both old and young.

What issue or concern will you recommend being commemorated this week and on what date?

Another day I'll like us to commemorate is the World's statistics day celebrated on the 21st of October which is tomorrow. I'll end here today and I'm inviting @zenobiat, @patjewell and @wintia23 to this contest
