Setting of new year goals in the beginning of every year is like a worldwide tradition. My country takes it seriously (on paper that is).
We all write plans that generally screams "I will do better!!" but the lifespan of its execution is too short lived for any concrete result to materialize.
If you ask me why, I would say this one word "DISCIPLINE". There is little or no discipline to match the execution of these goals. All we usually have is a determination, a drive, an excitement to write it down and do it it for a few months then when we get to a point where discipline is needed, we begin to procrastinate.
I say "we" because I am no exception.
Between you and I, I wrote no new year goals for the year 2024 at the beginning of the year but when I entered my second year in the university and my business was making some money for me, I then set my financial goal, accomplished it and even extended it!!. Yes ,that was the only goal I set and accomplished and to be honest ,it was the hardest. I had to deprive myself of many luxuries and a few needs.
My point here is in order for me to have reached that financial goal, everytime I thought of a fancy something to buy, I had to remind myself why I was setting this money aside and now, I am happy i did not give up.
Goal setting and accomplishment is no easy feat, it requires perseverance, discipline, personal interest and sometimes followup.
On a lighter note, my December 2024 goal was to eat till my tummy hurt and I did just that
