Community Work, the Only Way to Survive in A Crisis Zone.

Steem greetings all the way from the motherland-Cameroon to all friends on the Steemit ecosystem. We lived in a world where humans are prone to conflicts. This goes with the saying in conflict studies that “conflicts are unavoidable”. Ooh yes, conflicts can never be avoided and we should always prepare to face the realities of life.

My write up will focus on the perspective of the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon. This is a crisis that existed even before I was born but we read that only in Cameroon history books. At that time, it was not yet bloody though some few persons sacrificed their lives in the course of fighting to get out of the cage. More about the Anglophone problem can be read in the book by Prof. Victor Julius Ngoh tittled The Untold Stories of Cameroon Reunification:1955-1961. Why this book, because the Anglophone problem spanned from reunification where Anglophones believed that the terms of the reunification are not properly implemented.

That said, we have been rocking the crisis for over 8 years now and counting. There is no clue to when it will end. All I know is that conflicts are easy to start but very difficult to end because there are some individuals benefiting from the crisis and would not in any way want it to end.

Voluntary Work by Organization to keep the town clean.

This only puts the common man to suffer from violence from both parties actively taking part in the conflict. When the crisis become bloody, many companies where shutdown by the separatists fighters. This includes kidnapping of companies workers and some murdered. The garbage company suffered enormous losses due to this action from separatists fighters and they were forced to shutdown all their services within my region of my origin.

We have been living without garbage companies for all these years and some neighbourhoods tend to pay some individuals to carry their waste. Unfortunately, they carry and dump it wherever they want. This has caused serious drainage blockage and whenever it rains, it causes serious overflooding on the roads.

The only way out of this in a crisis zone is to engage in community work. This is the only means to survive to maintain our roads, keep our drainage clean and avoid overflooding.

No one is being paid for these voluntary services in maintaining a healthy environment for all, even those actively participating in the conflict. @thegreens is one of those ambitious youths campaigning and making sure to offer his free services to the public in a conflict zone, building embankments using old tyres cleaning off drainage paths and managing plastic waste.

Voluntary Building embankments using tyres with the greens and team.

These acts of voluntary service to the public are hardly recognized especially by the warring parties. Some volunteers are even kidnapped and some murdered while trying to serve humanity for free. They pay for a crime they never committed.

This now gave me a reason to write this post to appreciate the efforts @thegreens has been making to serve humanity. Each day when I passed by and saw the work you are doing, I said to myself if all of us could do this, though living in a crisis zone, we will stay healthy without environmental issues that causes a lot of health challenges. I have worked in some of the most remote areas within the context of the crisis, and I can see lots of people suffering from illnesses caused by environmental factors.

I am sharing part of this post payout to support you and your team and I salute you and say never relent in your efforts to serve humanity.

Thanks so much for bringing community service, volunteerism, and the work I do to the spotlight @chant. Thank you too for your kind and encouraging words as well as your generosity.

It gives me great joy to be of service to people and the planet. I have committed myself to ending tire pollution in Bamenda by the end of the year 2026 and I will keep giving my greatest efforts to educate and empower young people to join me to put an end to tire pollution while exploiting the employment, economic, and environmental benefits that come with it.
We all can be the change we seek and no matter how small it is, I encourage everyone to do something that can contribute in creating a thriving, just, inclusive and sustainable world.
From little things, big things grow!

I hope after 2026 you will not relent in your fight for environmental justice? My people will still need your services even after 2026.

This is a very important case,as far as it concern environment and health,it is true that government do forget to do her duties.
Leaving the community where citizens are living to full of waste is a serious challenge ever.
It brings many effects as one of it is the one you mentioned, Blocking of drainage channels,
My appreciation goes to the community owners who took the responsibility of making their environment clean.
Also to the @thegreens it really shows that you take the community as your priority.
Seeing what you are doing for the community, you deserve a national award.
Because health is wealth, when the community is dirty,a lot of sickness will attack people living in such communities.
To you #chsnt Ma' you are also a rule model for taking time to monitor this activities, you really showcase your community that you have them at heart.
Unclean environment is every where because of every day Human Activities.
So I will stop by saying, let us support the fight against unclean environment as @chant and @thgreens are showing good examples.
As a way for survival,I pray God to touch the haert of NGOs and government to show concern by supporting this work against unclean environment.
Thanks so much.

I wish every youth could be like @thegreens. The world would have been a better place. Unfortunately, youths nowadays only sit and complain.

Thank you for these beautiful words of encouragement and support. It's the least I can do for us and future generations. I keep praying to God for more blessings and opportunities to do more not just for my community but for all of Africa.
Slowly but surely, we will get there ...

"Wow, what an inspiring post! 🌟 I'm so glad you shared this story about the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon and the amazing work being done by @thegreens and his team to keep their community healthy and clean despite the challenges. 🙌 It's heartwarming to see people coming together to make a difference, even in the midst of conflict.

I have to say, I'm especially impressed by the photos of the voluntary services - building embankments using old tyres, cleaning drainage paths, and managing plastic waste! 😊 These acts of kindness are truly appreciated and deserve recognition.

As someone who's passionate about community development and environmental sustainability, I'd love to hear more about your experiences and insights. How can we learn from each other's approaches and support one another in our efforts to create positive change?

Also, I couldn't agree more on the importance of acknowledging and supporting volunteers like @thegreens and his team who risk their safety to serve humanity.

Lastly, let's not forget to show some love to the incredible work being done by witnesses like xpilar.witness! 😊 Please take a moment to vote for them at https://steemitwallet.com/~witnesses. Every voice matters in shaping our community's future! 🌈"
