The Diary Game [06/06/2024] Performing Civil Responsibility.

Steem greetings all the way from the motherland-Cameroon to all friends on the Steemit platform. It is yet another fruitful day as I am privileged to share my daily life with you all. It was a work day at home but I had made up my mind to go to any electoral center to register for a voter’s card.

My neighbour had brought the idea that we should register to participate in the parliamentary and presidential elections next year. Since I was of age to elect representatives of the government, I had never for once even had interest to vote because I had the thought that elections are not fair and transparent. I had the thought that no matter how many people vote, the ruling party always has a way to influence the votes to stay in power.

About to register but the machines were freezing and needed to be rebooted.

I got up early to prepare breakfast for the family before leaving the house. I made toasted bread with omelette and tea. I quickly fed the baby and my neighbour came around 9:00 AM to notify me that it was time for us to go. We took a cab two drops because there was no cab going directly to the location.

When we arrived there, we could not really identify the place well and we had to ask around for directions. We were sent to the senior divisional officer’s office to inquire for where to register. When we went there, the person we saw gave us information but with lots of doubts. We turned around and saw a canopy with a lady seated there on call but with electoral registration machines in front of her. We approached her and she immediately dropped her call and attended to us. She was so polite not like the case in most government offices.

Unfortunately, the machines were freezing and she rebooted to no avail. She directed us to another colleague at the delegation of national security.

Leaving to the delegation of national security.

When we arrived the delegation, the police officer at the gate refused my neighbour from entering because of the dress he was putting on. I asked him to go back to the canopy maybe the machines will be working and I went inside the delegation for national security and was attended to. I could not take pictures inside the delegation of national security due to strict measures for security reasons.

I left the delegation back to the D’Os office to check if my neighbour was done. Upon arriving there, he was almost through and I waited for some few seconds. We left the DO’s office and I had to zoom back home.

Leaving the DO’s office back home after successfully registered for the voter’s card. This building is as old as my grandmother. These are structures built by the Germans during the colonial rule in Cameroon. Germans constructed solid structures than the British and the Portuguese in Cameroon.

We were told that the cards will only be available at the end of the year against elections next year. When I arrived home, I was feeling tired and hungry. I immediately heated left overs of food I prepared the previous day and ate.

Kwacoco bible and canda sauce for lunch.

After eating, I immediately switched on my laptop to start working from home. Unfortunately, my laptop keyboard was not functioning properly. I noticed my daughter lastly used it and poured water on the keyboard. I tried blowdrying it to no avail. I tried using the onscreen keyboard but it was so stressful and I had some urgent office work to be completed. I had to use my phone which was still very stressful.

Along the way, I develop serious headache that I had to switch off everything and rested for about 2 hours. I woke up so confused and do not know where to start and what to do with my laptop. I do not know any trusted technician who could help check what was wrong. My day ended prematurely with disappointed ☹️ face as I dropped my diary laying down on the bed using my phone. Until my next diary session…guys this is @chant zooming out.

Some days are like that.. and it can be so annoying!! But if we look at things from the bright side, you achieve something meaningful by registering for your voters card.. hope you will vote this time around?😊

I hope 🤞 to vote during the upcoming election season. Though there is always a challenge as on such days separatist fighters declared a ghost town and movement is restricted.

So you guys go through same challenges we pass through in Nigeria here.. let God just help Africa as a whole..

Elections rigging is cancerous, eating our African countries. The reason why post-electoral conflicts are inevitable.

Thank you, friend!

So sorry to hear that your day didn't go well as you wanted but you actually looks so cute on your pictures 🥰

Thank you but the cuteness could not make my day to be a good day all along☹️☹️.

Mmm maybe you haven't accept the fact that your cute but since you have, now you will how your day will be amazing 😊.

It's a good thing to register and perform one's duty to vote, that way you have a case when questioning the transparency of the election process.

The electoral system is always questionable especially within the context of the Anglophone crisis. Most people do not vote but after vote counting the results declared are more than those who actually voted. Remember movement on such days are restricted by separatists fighters and in most polling stations very few people are opportune to cast a vote.

Congratulations!
