Steem greetings @everyone from the motherland-Cameroon and welcome to my blog as I share my daily lifestyle content with you all. It was weekend guys and full with lots of commitments to meet up with.
Should I say a disappointed 🙁 weekend 🤔. Somehow, I was disappointed because some of my commitments could not be achieved due to unannounced blackout in the town. Literally, we spent the whole day without electricity and till now, we are still in darkness.
I had programed a lot of both online and offline commitments knowing that I will start with the online commitments before commencing with offline activities. By 7:00 AM, we experienced blackout and I had to adjust my program. I then decided to go to the market to buy some food items.
It was a sunny day as usual with the northeasterly winds blowing everywhere with dust particles. I could not just step outside without protecting myself from inhaling the dust. I put on my facemask and also because I was gonna take a bike.
When I arrived the market, I decided to start buying from a coldstore. I needed some fresh fish from the coldstore. I bought some red tilapia fish and bar fish. What shocked me the most at the coldstore was the prices. The prices have almost double and the quality was not really that good. We had no other option but to buy because there is no better option to buy fish in town. It is a monopolized market.
From the coldstore, I went to the market to buy some other food stuffs like corn, garri, tomatoes, onion, carrots, green beans, sweet perper and a host of other food items.
I took a bike and returned back home. By this time I was feeling farmished and I took miondo I bought at the market with groundnut paste to eat as my lunch.
After eating, I had to go out to a roadside vendor to buy huckleberry to prepare for food against the next day. It was a walk from my house to the roadside vendors place. While there I also noticed the price of huckleberry has troppled. I quickly bought it and left back home.
By the time I was back home, electricity was reinstated and I quickly took my corn to the grinding mill to grind fufu. I was so lucky that when I arrived there it was not too busy like I thought. I was the 3rd person on the queue and I had to sit down and it was my turn to grind.
At the grinding mill.
I left back home and followed my husband to watch Arsenal vs Notingham forest. I could not continue watching the game as another unannounced blackout occurred. At this point, we are not informed about when it will be reinstated, I had to try to use my phone touch to fix the huckleberry. Separating the leaves from the hard stems.
Preparing huckleberry
I could not continue in darkness with the huckleberry. I parked it and heated some leftover food for us to eat before my phone battery runs down.
After eating our dinner, we had hopes that electricity will be back by then but it never happened. I had to use my remaining phone battery to drop my diary post before the phone’s battery finally goes off. Until my next diary session, I wish us all a happy weekend 🥰🥰.
